Well I sold the kawi after my deer accident.

Got a DRZ, for the price I sold my bike for.. DRZ at the Junction on New years Day.. After 3 days of riding the hills.. Its in the garage for evaluation.
To my surprise I see the rear tire showing slide marks..I thought I felt it back in a tiny bit. I also see slide marks on the front.. That feeling I dont like.

Well at close to 12k miles.. The valves are in spec. Putting a new plug in and 3x4 airbox mod.. OPPs I over cut..lol I really wish I have both bikes.. But the DRZ is more fun on 80 percent of the roads.. The throttle was pinned on the back of 9 so it can use a tad bit more HP. I should have bought a jet kit. while I'm at it.. but I only had it for 3 days so far. Future mods will be a pipe and jet kits.. But first of all I need to replace the grips.. the oem ones pinch my hands..

It should ride a ton better this weekend. After I set my sag and mess with the suspension..

I am asking because I have a 07 gix for sale and I got offered a sxv450 for trade i really want to do it but Im scared the aprilia might become a handful for me.

It really depends.. you need to find one that is 'sorted'

Known issues were case sealant failures, as well as the stator bolts backing out.

I had those issues fixed on my bike and now it runs like a dream.

Another issue is incorrect mapping on these bikes, with an incorrect map, the bike is hard to start and does not run well.

That said, once you fix all those little issues, the bike is pretty solid--just need to adhere to a semi-intensive maintenance schedule. I would say it's probably on par with the 'race' MX bikes.

I change the oil on mine every 200-miles and had the valves checked at 1300 - still in spec. My bike now has 3800-miles and runs perfect. You have to really keep an eye on the oil as the bike will burn oil with regular riding, and you may or may not have to top off after a longish ride.

^^ Wow man that is a lot of maintenance.. As for the known fixes it does not seem too difficult. 200 mile oil changes is due after every ride for me.. But I heard they have 70hp.. that is awsome Hp for a tard.

I'm super anal, but some folks go 500-600 street miles before changing oil. It's easy and cheap insurance for me.

The bike weighs 275lbs and has 75hp. You cannot keep the front wheel on the ground on the first 3 gears if you're hamfisted.
