1985 RZ350 Based Custom Motorcycle

All indications are that Julian mothballed it properly.

So

I'm going to see if I can get it going and take it for a spin. Maybe 2 spins. Check status of.my underpants (not a 2 stroke person nor a particularly fast rider). And probably mothball it again for a fairly long time. It's a sculpture as well as being a motorcycle imo.

It's a dirtbag bike made to do dirtbag things so paint and prettying seems weird.... But nickel plating that front end would be pretty cool. There may be a light preservative on the bare metal as is because in the 2+ years since it was last registered there isn't any obvious rust. A wipe down with wd40 is probably worse for now
If you ever sell it, let me know. It will look right at home beside the GSXR rat bike that I bought from you! (which is still exactly the same as the day I got it!)

Well it's going to be a couple months before a real ride. The bike was non-op as expected but the registration year ends in June, so of course dmv wants all of the current year of fees as well as the next one. Um nope. I'll continue the non-op for $41 Alex and take "register it in 2 months for half price" for like $150ish. No, no daily double please

I wish I could still fold up to fit on that bike! So fun and so damn near bulletproof. It would have been a great dirtbag bike.

Well. It still isn't registered because it's been sitting all this time. Sometimes outside, lately in my shop mysteriously marking its territory. The clutch cover sprint a leak where there should be no leak path. Today, I investigated said leak and found a little crack and we know there is no acceptable amount of crack so I smeared some RTV on it. Maybe it'll stop.

I also put a battery to the leads and the lights (tail and head, there are no others) work.

I ALSO also found my temporary gas can and some 2 stroke mix. Maybe tomorrow I'll try to start it?

Good news: it definitely runs
Bad news: needs new float valves and there aren't any stores left (that I am aware of) that sell such things in the south bay

I cleaned the carb bowls and checked that nothing was blocked, polish the float valve seats and stick it all back together getting ready to leak test the carbs (off of bike) and decide to check what the petcock situation os on the tank... Vacuum or manual or?

There isn't one. Julian maybe borrowed it for something else. :laughing
Anyone have an r6 petcock hanging around? I am fairly certain that is the origin of the tank

I am a little surprised the float valves are holding now. Both have a pretty pronounced dent where they hit the seat... Of course there is a 50% chance I mixed them up and a slightly new area of the needle is touching the seat thus sealing ok?
