How to get a copy of an old police report

If it's SFPD, here is a starting point. https://www.sanfranciscopolice.org/get-service/police-reports/request-police-incident-report-copy

If you don't know the case number, but were listed in the report, they should be able to find it by name.

Depending on the type of report, and who you are in relation to the report, they may or may not be able to release a copy. Or, if they do, it could be just a partial report or a heavily redacted report.

I think they'd still be able to release reports from 10 years ago, but that is a long time. For most crimes and civil actions, it would be well past any statute of limitations. Just curious why you'd want a report from so long ago.
