WTF? https://www.nbcbayarea.com/news/local/livermore-arrests-auto-burglaries/3897302/

Three children – ages 12, 14 and 15 – have been arrested in connection with 49 auto burglaries in Livermore, police said Thursday. Two boys, ages 12 and 15, and a 14-year-old girl were arrested June 10 for the burglaries, police said on social media. The 49 break-ins all occurred overnights from May 5 to June 13 in the downtown area and surrounding streets, police said.

That's the California juvenile justice system for ya. Just have to cite them to the same parents who allowed this to happen in the first place.

Hopefully these kids will at least be shaken up by being arrested and going through the justice system to some extent. Scared straight in other words.
And hopefully the parents will learn to watch their kids better.

Nothing like a ticket and no Juvenile Hall time to scare them straight. Oh, and speaking of "Juvenile Hall", in my county, they renamed it the "Youth Services Center", and we are no longer able to call it Juvenile Hall, because, well, I guess, Juvenile Hall sounds to scary?

I don't think "Scared straight" is a thing any longer.

Who renamed it Youth Services Center? The current BoS wouldn't surprise me.

Just how are you going to get the term "Juvenile Delinquent" to be relevant with al the newish names for "Child Services"
That kernel of info, lost to a jumble of alphabet ??

Status earned, yet not applied, why
Victim of political correctness- its made such a difference...

Kids do stupid things, and doing stupid things is how many of us learn. The court system though, IMO it is very lenient except for foster youth. By chance you are up for volunteering to work with foster youth, you can get some training and advocate for them in the court system - https://www.californiacasa.org/local-programs. It can be a heartbreaking experience, but factually some youth are in awful situations. In particular, men are needed.

not sure about how things are these days but when I was that age most of the people I ran around with were petty criminals. Skateboards and markers were are primary criminal activities.
