Mini-Moto Track Time at Sonoma?

Hopefully this is the right place to post... Looking for information on riding the kart track at Sonoma. Just got my CRF100 prepped (street tires, springs, etc.) but haven't gotten a call back from the track yet on their open Moto days. I'm wanting to find out the protocol such as bike requirements, times, costs to ride open days, are there riders meetings, etc.? I come from doing regular big bike track days and am looking for some off-season training and fun.

+1 to this. I think it would be super cool to go get a badass Ohvale 190 and destroy a go-kart track with it, but I have no idea what the scene is like. In addition to track days, is there a bike-on-kart-track racing series that a dude in his 30s can enter?

Sonoma Track Schedule

Full Day $60, half Day $40

Been a while since I had been to that track. Sonoma has a bit more formal (regulated) program than Stockton or Dixon. But, nothing compared to attending a BIG bike track day. In other words, no formal tech inspection, nor a riders meet.

Sumo's are required to have hand guards mounted. Road race bikes required to have Bar-end sliders. Axle sliders are required as well. Sumo's may be required to have peg sliders as well.

Once you arrive to the track / pit area, unload, enter the building (adjacent to the track) to pay for your track day, and sign a liability form. They may inspect your bike for the appropriate sliders mounted on your bike, before you are allowed to enter the track.

I believe so. I have seen pix of those bikes at the track.

Stockton and Dixon allow Ninja's, R3's, KTM's, and alike (400cc max. limit).

I know SupermotoUSA has the Sonoma track on their race schedule. Allen (Stockton track director) may be working adding Sonoma to their Mini-Moto Race Series program too - TBD. Currently only Stockton and Dixon.

Stockton (and Dixon) have several classes. Again, see the Track / Race sticky thread for more details. A 2020 schedule has not been posted yet.

Additionally, Allen offers a track Membership at Stockton. Membership - anytime track access (exception is a private hosted event, or a Fairground event). Contact Allen for either renewal or new membership cost

I was at the track yesterday. Kinda on a whim I decided to go because I needed to test my Light Bee out. I did the half day for $40. I went to the the Simraceway calender and checked to see if there are open Kart/Moto days on a weekend and sure enough it was this coming weekend. Decided to go on a weekend so I have some playmates nice little spread of bikes that day, some large Huskies, a KX65, Ninja 400, and Ohvale190. Been a while since I've been to the track on a cold day was like in the 50-60s and the track is slippery so take your time warming up your tires, or have tirewarmers.

Check the calander out and it will say what days it is open, it open pretty much everyday of the week but not everyweek. Like for Sunday there is only one day in January it is open Sunday so I head over there right away.

I have seen a bike as big as DR650 there also btw. It's like a battleship on that track haha!

So yeah it's open random days to practice so make sure you check the calender. There might be kart only days also so pay attention to what it says. Also some days are half days I see also. It's $40 for a halfday also.

There is some power outlets for tire warmers and charging electric bikes in my case.

I will do a plug for Tyler O'Hara he is available for coaching for Ninjas and now he has an Ohvale190. He's like a ninja on it just sneak right past me.

I also want to point out ask them or very carefully observe what direction the track is going. They usually go clockwise but one time they reversed it and they didn't tell me and I hopped on the track the wrong direction. It's very informal at the track but what I usually do now is ask them what direction the track is going when I pay the fee.

Might of been Ed Enriquez. He is a sponsoring support of the NorCal Ohvale Cup Series that Stockton runs. You will find him (and his son, Alex) mostly at the Stockton track. He usually will have Ohvale's for rent: 125cc, 160cc, or 190cc. You can get a hold of him on FB, or contact Allen for his contact info, then inquire when he plans to be at a track, or arrange a rental with him.

They race in SupermotoUSA at Simraceway I've raced against Alex a few times and he gives me a whoopin everytime can't even touch him or the other Ohvales for that matter and that's only the 110cc! It's not uncommon to see the Ohvales chasing bigger bikes too. They race in GP2 and GP3 classes.
