hinodeya ramen that is on O'Farell st, to the Left Of Union Sq has been pretty yummy for me ! But kind of a small 2 person per table "dating place" , IMO

Haha!! Story from my youth

When I was 15-16 I used to go to the City with some older dudes from Palo Alto and they always went to Sam Wo’s for grub after class. They offered rookie boy up to the infamous Edsel Fong to help him do whatever. Rudest server ever fame.

Edsel had me busing tables and delivering beers etc. while they laughed at me. I remember one night where I guess I graduated and he said something “Oh my worker is here”. He gave me a beer and I asked who does this go to and he said “It is yours for all the help. Go sit with the old guys and enjoy it””

Blew me away.
 
When I first moved back here in 2004, I was living on Treasure Island, and was poorer than I am now.

I would get a BBQ Pork Rice Noodle Roll for $6. It was cut into 12 pieces. I would have 7 for dinner and take the other 5 to work for lunch the next day.

I was in there all the time. The salty old waitress would tell me "no, you wont like that. Get something else" when I would order something spicy or with some weird bean or mushroom in it. :LOL:

After a few months of being a regular she would give me extra spicy mustard and free white rabbit candies.

It has, since then, closed its original Washington street location (the super tiny spot with the dumb waiter to get food up to the 3rd floor). They moved across the park to the current Clay St location and that closed a few years ago, and now its re-opened as of a few months ago.
 
I assume you mea. Wo’s moved. It was odd walking thru some of the kitchen to get to stairs up to the floors above….. and oh shit the dumb waiter. :laughing

I am open to suggestions. We have Skipsmas on 12/16. Any objection to a BARF meet on 12/22 or is that too close to the holly-daze for your Christmassy peeps?
 
I mean the Hi Dive has food and dranks, easy moto parking, and can support a bigger group. Nothing special but it's reliably a good time. Right off the T 3rd street line so can public transit...no DUIs.

Patriot House also has food and drinks, It's a gastro pub so everything is god damned delicious :drool , cooked in bacon fat and/or delicious cheese sauces, but it's a bit pricey. Also it's in the Embarcadero, moto parking is a couple blocks away, but easily BART/Muni-able.

Sam Wo is legit, but tables are small and low and I think fixed to the wall/floor, 4 tops max. @N4teTheGreat would be all knees and elbows crashing chopsticks into the wall. But it's cheap and tastes like nostalgia for me.

HInodeyo is delicious, Who doesn't love Ramen!! It has space for us but it's a chain, so that might be a mark against it.
 
I'll be at work because they haven't shifted my schedule yet, unless they shift my schedule in which case I won't be at work... in short, don't plan around me
