Here we go again...
Was SB-767, then AB-1086 now reintroduced as AB-2551. 1086 made it to the governor’s desk last year where it was vetoed. Edit: may have started as SB-1316...
This appears to be the same stuff.

Celeste Garamendi and her pals have been trying to close the Carnegie SVRA for years. This is another angle. I think she currently has four lawsuits going.

I hope the younger riders get involved, because this is going to to continue...

Great, my local senator, Wieckowski, is a co-author :thumbdown

He's running for Alameda county supervisor in case anybody is voting in his district.

Glazer is on the take... obviously.. Jeez. :rolleyes

Looks like a copy/paste from last year, I guess they just re-introduce it every year until they die or the bill goes away? Wonder how many dinner parties Garamendi and Glazer have together each year.

Time to send some emails but given who my local reps are that will be nothing more than spam to them.

I am going to send something like this:

How dare you?!?
You should be ashamed of yourselves for supporting this legislation to take public lands away from your constituents. It is your duty to represent the interests of the people who elected you, not the ones that influence legislation with money and favors.

This is a state park, it should not be “sold” to some private interest, no matter how noble they say their intentions are.

I vote. My friends vote. If you do not support our interests as the public in general we will find someone who will.

blah blah blah. I should attach the Govenator's veto letter for AB-1086

So. I assume that political donations have to be public record. Anybody know where to find those??

From these guys https://www.couragescore.org/people/steve-glazer/

Looks like we're not the only ones thinking this guy is on the take.

When you can’t get endorsed for office by your own party, you know something’s wrong. This is the case for Sen. Steve Glazer, who went to the California Democratic convention in November seeking an endorsement and came home with a whole lotta nothing.

Throughout his career, Glazer has been writing the Democratic “D” next to his name even though, in practice, he’s anything but — like a lovestruck teen who hopes that if they sign their last name as DiCaprio in cursive enough times, someday they’ll really be married to Leo.

Glazer repeatedly votes against Democratic proposals, siding with Republicans to fight progressive reform. He comes from a quintessential middle-of-the-road district (21st of 40 in our Progressive District Ratings). Yet his Courage Score, once again, is the lowest of any Dem in the Senate, a pitiful 22 — F-minus, with a bullet.

And why shouldn’t Dems give up on Glazer? In 2018, he refused to support Rebecca Bauer-Kahan in her challenge against Hall-of-Shame Republican Catherine Baker. Before that, he said that public workers, like those who work for low wages in tough conditions on BART trains, shouldn’t even have the right to strike.

Glazer’s votes aren’t just bad, they’re clearly against the will of his district. The people of SD-7 — an East Bay area including places like San Ramon, Orinda and Concord — supported environmental protections when it backed Prop 67 (2016, 56%). But when Glazer is offered a chance to protect our environment, he trashes it. He failed to support to bills to reduce lead-acid battery pollution (SB142) and increase accountability for the care of abandoned oil wells (SB551). To put a cherry on the pollution sundae, he actually authored a bill to repeal critical environmental provisions to pave the way for real estate development (SB25).

In 2016, SD-7 also voted with a firm majority to overturn Citizens United and get money out of politics (Prop 59, 55%). Yet, their guy Glazer blocked a measure to set contribution limits in local elections (AB2523, 2015) — becoming the only Senate Dem to do so.

Speaking of money, let’s take a look at Glazer’s campaign dollars, shall we? In 2016 alone, he received over $6.2 million — with nearly two thirds of that sum, almost 4 million bucks, from just three sources:

$2M+ from Bill Bloomfield, an uber-wealthy George W. Bush supporter who donates money to politicians he thinks he can get to support for-profit charter schools

$1M+ from EdVoice Expenditure, a big-money PAC that has spent tens of millions trying to deregulate the charter school industry

$800,000+ from California Charter Schools Association Advocates, which exists solely to give money to politicians who support — you guessed it — for-profit charter schools.

Nearly $4,000,000 in a single campaign from the billionaire-driven for-profit charter school lobby. Hmm…we’ll give you one guess how Steve Glazer votes when given the chance to rein in for-profit charters, and keep them from gutting public education funding. NO on AB1507, to give local districts more control over charter applications and NO on SB756, which would have capped the number of charters in California and put a 2-year freeze on new applications.

Total coincidence, right?

In addition, Glazer has taken hundreds of thousands in donations from Independent Women’s Voice — a part of the dark money network steered by the Koch Brothers, right-wing ideologues who oppose everything a Democrat should stand for.

Campaign money from the Koch Brothers? Is this what Steve Glazer’s voters wanted when they voted to get money out of politics?

Steve Glazer’s votes are an affront to the voters of SD-7 and an embarrassment to Democratic principles. His constituents — and all Californians — deserve better.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------
Obviously there are some agenda issues between us but looking into Glazer's finances will prove difficult. If he's taking 4million from PAC's trying to find the odd dinner with Celeste will be tough...

Looks like a copy/paste from last year, I guess they just re-introduce it every year until they die or the bill goes away? .

The following has been added to the previous versions of the bill:

"by sale of a perpetual recorded conservation easement deed restriction or fee title if the department, after holding a public hearing on the matter and in consultation with stakeholders, determines that disposing of the land is in the public interest."

Ride on

your CORVA guy

Running out of energy :mad

If you ride Carnegie this is a big deal! The well connected neighbors are very close to having the much needed and long awaited Expansion land taken away from CA State OHV dept. The Legislature's proposed budget that is to be agreed upon on June 30 includes an item for 9 million to buy away Carnegie expansion lands. Problem is, is that was the value of the land in 1998(23 years ago!). Impossible to buy 3100acres around the Bay Area today for even 3x that. Be involved or your rights will be taken away from you. Start with Newsom. He vetoed the last attempt in 2019 but he's under a lot of pressure with the recall to say yes to the Sierra club this time.

Just saw this in the Livermore Independent. Witness a prime example of sleaze politics in action. I believe the California Legislative budget was voted on at the end of June, but can't find info of whether the 9 million dollar budget item was included and passed with it and is awaiting the Governor's signature. I doubt that Newsom will forego the entire budget over this one issue. After all the years of working within the process getting a General Plan for the Expansion, sleazy special interest politics may win the day.

AB1512/SB799 Unethical or Politics as Usual?
Jun 24, 2021
Estelle Miller, Livermore
After inactivating SB799, Senator Steven Glazer has now attached a budget trailer bill to the 2021 Budget for the State of California due by June 30.
The trailer bill reads: Approve $9 Million General Fund one-time and trailer bill language to preserve the Carnegie State Vehicular Area known as "Alameda-Tesla Expansion Area" for conservation purposes.
Why a budget trailer bill instead of a regular bill?  And why now, when regular bills are going through the legislature?  Is this how politics is played?   Sneak past your opposition?  A trailer bill does not need to be discussed, only a simple majority is needed to pass it, and it goes into effect immediately upon the governor's signing.
Is substituting this budget trailer bill for SB799 or AB1512 unethical?  It's legal.  It's expedient.  It's a way to get around the normal legislative process and Senator Glazer is taking that route.
The simple truth is Senator Glazer, and his backers want to take land, owned by the California State Parks, already protected under intense conservation rules and regulations, from the OHV recreation public.
The trailer bill is a way for Senator Glazer to get what he wants by bypassing the public.  No public input.  No public scrutiny.  No dealing with the public affected by its provisions.  It's strange, considering Senator Glazer is a public servant.

Does anyone know if this Budget passed last month?

I was on part of the CORVA meeting on Monday and it has been said...
"We were informed tonight (I don’t know if you were still on the call) that the 9 million was pulled from the proposed budget."

Does this mean what I think it means??
Tentative :party

I don't know about you but I AM SO FUCKING TIRED!!!
We are currently dealing with that POS Jared Huffman's agricultural development of Pt. Reyes NAtional Seashore. These crooked greedy, in the pocket of whatever industry owns them at the moment, "representitives of ours do not give a rip about conservation. :mad
/rant

"....that the 9 million was pulled from the proposed budget."
That sounds like great news! Though the bill has passed both the assembly and the Senate, and What's this judgement about the DEIR for the expansion not being legal in January. That sounds like serious BS. Hasn't there already been 2 DEIRs done for the expansion. It gets very discouraging. I would really like if all the work and expense that went into the General Plan could come to fruition someday. Isn't 30% of the "OHV" expansion land going to non-OHV purposes per the General Plan. What's the freakin" problem with the other side?!?! ThumperX has a point...It gets damn tiresome that the "process" apparently never ends. Glad Hollister isn't dealing with these issues.

The assault on OHV's is considered being Green.

Politico's love being green while we are green in the face trying to protect our rights as citizen to enjoy off road activities.

The best thing you guys, all you guys, can do is call your representatives and ask them what is the status of these bills, and er, what do they mean. They will answer, or try to, and you can task them with finding out. By next week. And get their name, so you can call back and say “JoeBob” (whatever) was working on this for me. He said on “this date” that he would let me know by “this other date”…

Do it!!!

The Marin folk are riled up over the Tule Elk eradication plan that passed. It’s a homage to cattle ranchers and big ag, I’ve been using it as an educational platform segwaying into the OHV rip off. I’ve had a few “AhHas’
