Damn... that sounds awesome. What a great opportunity!

I hope to join on one of your journeys when time allows.
Have a two week ride already on the books from Aug. 31 to Sept. 12th.

I know you would be the perfect guide for this.

Have a great time.

Thanks, Bud. It will be epic!

tempting, for sure ... do you provide referrals to folks who would need to rent a bike? not sure my family's going to be in riding fettle for this September, but am curious ... :thumbup

Will this be a yearly deal?

Butch and I are thinking 23 & We.

Good questions!

The rental agency that folks have used most often on previous tours has been Superbike Rental.

There are others that look good. This one in Manchester would be more convenient. It's easy to arrange to fly into and out of Manchester (that's where I fly), and it saves you a long slog on the motorway to get up north.

You already know this, John, but for folks who haven't done this before, do not plan to ride the day you arrive. Arrive at least one day before you plan to ride. The day you arrive, DO NOT take a nap. Stay awake as long as you can. You'll get over jet lag quicker, and you don't want to be jet lagged on a bike!

From Manchester it's about a 2-1/2 hour ride to our base camp, and it's mostly an interesting ride. From Essex it's more than 5 hours, and much of it motorway.

Will this be a yearly deal?

Probably.

Hi all, I've been in touch with the folks at Hunt's Motorcycles in Manchester, UK. They have a nice selection of bikes, and are only a 19 minute train ride from the Manchester airport. It's easy to get flights into Manchester from the US, and it's much less of a kerfuffle than flying in and out of Heathrow, plus it puts you closer to the fun riding! Manchester is actually a fascinating city with interesting sites and architecture. Its history is tied closely to that of the US, as Manchester is truly the city that cotton built.

Book your bike through Hunt's, and I will meet you there on the morning of September 5th, and lead you up to our base camp in the Yorkshire Dales. Give yourself at least one overnight in Manchester before picking up your bike. I've done the fly and ride to Europe many times, and my advice to you is that you do not want to ride the same day you land. Srsly.

awesome! Sounds like a great adventure, and I'm a ManU fan too. It would be great to do the ride and catch a match at Old Trafford.

unfortunately I'll be there in August with the family. But if you end up at Silverstone for the motogp, maybe we should plan to say hi?

cheers,
Dan

Thanks for the suggestion! I don't think I'll be that far south. :thumbup

Sounds like a stellar time riding over hill and dale with the Hun! :)

I'll do my best! :ride
