Thanks for the offer but I see the seeds are not expensive at all so might give them a try though I've only grown peppers from tiny starter plants. My green thumb is a bit on the brown side! :laughing

What makes Fish Peppers unique?
 
Radishes are coming up, four rows all sprouting. They grow so quick, perfect plant to grow for quick results. Arugula continues to pop up and one row of lettuces is coming up too.

I bought a bunch of seeds for things I usually buy starts of. Tomatoes and peppers mostly. I'm going to go with seeds as much as possible this season and see how it goes.
 
Even though it's been getting in the mid 30s at night stuff is still sprouting. Barring any major dip in night time temps, I think we'll be good. Here are some pics of our garlic, red and white onions, radishes and lettuces (Pic sucks, dog proofing not helping either). Not pictured, beets, which just sprouted up a couple days ago. Very cool, are these all from seed?
 
About to close on a place with 2 apple, 2 plum, a fig, and some trellised grapes. Room for roses and some raised beds. Once we close, the current owner is going to walk me thru the yard and give me all the deets for care and feeding.

Cannot wait to bring in some natives as well the standard tomato, basil, peppers.

Yes. I forgot to mention that the peas are coming up too. I always do lettuce, beets, arugula, carrots if I grow them (Also saw one of those popping up, they take a long time to sprout) from seeds. I will be planting cucumbers and squash (Yellow crookneck) a bit later, also from seeds. I usually buy tomato and pepper starts but this year I'm going to try and make my own starts. We'll see, if it works out and I have a lot I will share with anyone willing to come and pick them up.

Oh, my bad, the onions were bought in small bundles. Little bulbs with 6" leaves, I forget what they are called but they come in bare root form. I've never tried to grow onions from seeds.
 
The pretty thing bought me a potato growing kit a few years ago. it was a small box with a potato in it.

I'm thinking of growing arugula this year. Seems fairly straightforward. Might have to cage it like my plants last year though. A squirrel or some critter kept snacking on my thai chili plants last year while they were still small.

We had a red potato sprouting in our pantry. I stuck it in our compost pile and it just broke out of the ground. If I remember correctly, if a potato has two or more of the eyes sprouting, they will grow potatoes. We'll see, I've only grow potatoes twice, once by accident, lol

Of all of the things that grow, arugula usually has the least issue with pests (I'm thinking bugs/snail, not rodents). Fresh arugula is soooo good. Go for it!
 
potatoes are fun because sometimes, you don't find all of 'em come harvest time so whatever you missed gives you volunteer spuds next year!
 
Broccoli has always been one of my most successful home garden crops. I start from seed in late August/September in seedling six packs, then transplant out to the garden or greenhouse in November. My favorite variety is Arcadia which has enormous main heads and continues to put out side heads for weeks afterwards. They yield way more than I can consume so I always have loads to give away to neighbors. Here is my wife some years ago holding our most gigantic head of broccoli ever.

And here is one of my dozen plants this season just starting to form a tiny head in mid-December-

And by mid-January it turned into this monster head-

Now at the end of February I am still harvesting small side heads every couple of days and have six new young broccolis maturing for a late spring harvest. But by May or June the heat and aphids will be stressing the cool season crops here in Solano county so my broccoli season will end until fall.
