Hey everyone! 😊
I’m a newer rider and just wanted to introduce myself. I’m currently riding a Rebel 500 and still building my confidence, especially with things like freeway riding, traffic, and overall bike control.
I’m really looking to meet other riders—preferably fellow beginners or patient experienced riders—who’d be down to practice together, share tips, and just enjoy riding in a safe and supportive way.
I’m based in the Bay Area and usually available on weekends (and some weekdays depending on schedule).
If anyone’s interested in linking up for practice rides or even just grabbing coffee and talking bikes, feel free to reach out!
Ride safe and hope to connect with some of you soon 🏍️✨

Thank you so much 🙏 I'm really enjoy riding so far and would love to practice more to gained more confidence.❤️‍🔥

Nancy you have started a hobby that will turn into a passion and last a lifetime. Many good people on Barf and some women who will give you advice and guidance.

Keep you best wheel forward.

Bill

Welcome.

If you commute, and it's practical to take the bike, you should do that as often as you like. Simply because confidence comes with miles, and, good or ill, city traffic is filled with situations to learn from. Far more than a country cruise. Plus it just helps make the bike routine.

Take your time, take it slow, enjoy the ride!

Welcome to Barf.

Welcome!! Sounds like you're on a safe and sane path.

Welcome to BARF! Great choice of bike that is friendly yet fun and enough bike to own for the decades of riding ahead. There is a lot of worth to be found on this forum.

Thank you very much! And yes! I'm planning on commute to work during spring and summer which 40 miles each way, so more practicing is a much for this rides 😊

Welcome, there's a few newer riders on this forum as I recall. I remember moving here and finding the hill starts in SF quite daunting and 101 seemed crazy. Took some practice on my own, but then riding with friends who were more experienced but willing to wait up for me here and there and watching what they did while slowly pushing on the edges of my comfort zone (safely) made from some big improvements. That and riding classes here and there and, end of the day, lots of time in the seat. All I know for sure is, motorcycles are fun.

Thanks for the warm welcome and for sharing your experience, I really appreciate it!
I recently finished the MSF course, so now I’m looking to keep improving with more practice and possibly take an advanced or improvement class as well.
If you (or anyone here) have recommendations for good improvement classes in the area, I’d really appreciate it! Also definitely open to riding with others who are patient and willing to help a newer rider build skills. Thanks again 🙏

I have been known to be patient (all those motorists I passed are lying)). As I recall it took me a good month or so to even venture on the highway after I passed the MSF. I'd ride back roads to work during the week. I got up the nerve one weekend and work up stupid early and rode from Denver to Rocky Mountain National park and back. Having the first half of the days highway stretch completely to myself was a great way to get over the discomfort of the higher speeds. Was also pretty cool getting waved at my a group of riders as they blew by me :laughing by the time I was returning home in the afternoon in heavy traffic didn't seem like quite as a big a deal. Nice thing about the bay area, there are plenty of ways to avoid the main highways if you aren't ready for that noise. My schedule is shifting back to having weekdays off once this month ends, but if we had folks who wanted to do a low key ride during the week, it's an option, and offers much lighter traffic when the roads get interesting.

:wave whereabouts in the bay area?

hello Namy ✨ I'm pretty new myself, started riding early last summer and I'm on a small naked bike, so definitely not going crazy fast. A friend of mine rides a rebel as well and it seems like a very comfortable bike. I know you'll have fun! I'm out of SJ too, and I commute to silicon valley for work most days on my bike, occasionally in the car.

Though I'm not in a position to necessarily give pointers being so new myself, I try to ride reliably and predictably with my buddies. I'm down to plan a weekend jaunt sometime if you'd like ~ the only caveat is that my schedule is usually pretty packed so I'm not always free when others want to ride.

Welcome and ride safe :ride

Hi! 😊
Nice to meet you, and that’s awesome you’re riding a CB300f—sounds like we’re both in the same stage of learning.
I’d definitely be interested in practicing and riding together! I’m still building confidence, so riding with someone who’s also newer and focused on being safe and predictable sounds perfect.
Weekends work best for me too, so if our schedules line up, I’d be totally down for a chill practice ride or short trip. Just let me know what works for you!
Not sure, how can I get your contact on here so we can texting each other?

Ride safe and hope to ride together soon 🏍✨❤️‍🔥

Hi there, South Bay, San Jose.😊
That's a bit far for me to go but I hope you find a riding friend soon. I recommend reading David Hough's book, "Street Strategies." I found it very useful when I was a newer rider.

Welcome! We too are in San Jose and Elfin is a new rider also and I am pretty experienced so maybe we can share an experience together. Enjoy.
