What is the best sandwich?

If we’re talking best sandwich in the Bay, I’m casting my vote for Little Luca in South San Francisco without hesitation. That place has been running laps around everyone for years. The bread, the meats, the secret sauce—it’s the kind of sandwich that ruins other sandwiches for you.

Anyone who’s been knows exactly what I’m talking about. It’s not hype, it’s just facts: Little Luca makes the best sandwich, period.

I had lived on The Peninsula the majority of my years. Little Luca was given high marks by everyone that knew it. Knew a family who would rejoice when we scheduled softball games on the westside of the bay so they could partake in sandwiches in SSF.

And, I've never been! Going to rectify that. On the bucket list.

I’d say a burrito is the best kind of sandwich.

Both can be excellent.

As previously stated, I live a Sandwich Rich lifestyle. I am unable to recall the last time I ever bought a loaf of White Bread. Literally the only time I eat that is with Nashville hot chicken.

I haven’t eaten white bread in more than 50 years.

Katz's pastrami on rye. But at $30 a sandwich, it should be good. I used to live in Saigon, and had good banh mi for under a $1.00, and I often had to eat two. But I can make a decent Dagwood Bumstead sandwich at home.
I’ve eaten at Katz a few times. Their pastrami is good but not anything that can’t be found in a million places on the east coast. It’s all hype. Try Barney Greengrass right around the corner. They are the epicenter of smoked fish and bagels on the upper west side. Had lunch there 4 weeks ago and still dream of it.
Smoked sturgeon and Lox on an onion bagel with a shmear, capers and tomato for the win.

Closer to home, the smoked brisket sandwich at Ginocchios in Bodega Bay, the Italian sub at Stewart’s Point store and the crab roll at Fishermen’s Cove also in Bodega Bay. Ask anyone that knows me, I’m the Sammie king.

Garlic Bagel. :x

I agree with the OP, I love myself a good Cold Italian Sandwich. Lately, I discovered Firehouse Subs makes a really good Italian sandwich.
