And Beta is throwing down.

A 2 stroke beast.
Well sort of. 351cc is not exactly a Honda 500, but probably more fun.

I watched this earlier today, and agree it looks pretty cool. I have said for years I wanted a lighter weight adventure bike, but it turns out I wanted a Rally bike! Considering that this bike weighs the same as the 390 Adventure, with significantly better suspension, it is exactly what I have wanted. My dealer confirmed that they have one coming in my name, maybe as early as November.

my guess was that the venerable Kawasaki 650 engine has a 180 degree crank, and I was correct, I think. idk, cuz I never owned that particular engine:

“The Kawasaki 650 parallel-twin engine (found in models like the Ninja 650, Z650, and Versys 650) has a 180-degree crankshaft paired with a balance shaft.”

my experience with the 180-degree crank/robust engine-balancing shaft on the old EX500 engine was engine vibration was not an issue, and so I suspect that it’s not an issue for the 650 engine? :dunno

I think of the 270 degree crank as a Yamaha thing, and it’s perhaps a more elegant (simple and effective) solution to vertical twin vibration? probably makes for a lighter engine with fewer moving parts? :dunno

(my ‘73 Triumph Tiger has a 360 degree crank.)
