Adventure riding short rides and BS thread

From last weekend for the Adventure riding short rides B.S....

Easy hop over to the Boggs Demonstration Forest since they just re-opened the campgrounds (closed the past several years due to fire)

My nephew was on my 1090 and since some of us had smoked some of the Devil's Lettuce he offered to do a store run for more water and stuff.

At some point after the devils lettuce had worn off I went for a little spin to see how the forest was recovering.

Horse Camp was pretty bleak with no shade at the actual campsites, but trees are growing back.

Then we busted out the "AdjustaForks" and made dinner with the nephew's homemade Venison sausages and some grilled peppers.

The 1090 got a rear flat on the way home, but a plug got us home safely.

^^ so awesome! :hail

after doing Baja and DV earlier this year, I was craving some mellow Mendo, so I have a plan to sleep in a tent for six nights on my way to the awesome BARF Weaverville rally, which had been the foundation of my riding season for lo these many years:

Nice! Seems this bike should have been on my radar before picking up an Ibex450 last week. Clearly I didn't do enough research

Can't go wrong with the Ibex! I did quite a bit of back and forth between the two. Aftermarket is currently much better on the Ibex, hoping it gets better for the MM after they've been out a bit longer. In the end, I just liked the styling of the MM more.

I’m very happy with my Ibex decision.
Congrats on the Moto Moroni @karellen !
We can have a small ADV bike fest!

The MM is definitely more attractive. My 5’1” self couldn’t handle the weight and the 33” seat.

The fact that Rockymountain has OEM and aftermarket for the CFmoto was a big plus for me.
I've had my eye on the bike since first seeing one about 2 years ago in Carson City.
Was great to read the positive reviews by ThumperX and others here!
So far it's been fun, but sure could use a 7th gear!
Hopefuly i'll get it on the dirt in a few weeks, but for now the street is fun since I haven't been on pavement for a few years
(finally something in the garage with more than one cylinder!)

We need to grab @Meandad and have a local little ADV bike adventure! :ride

I started to had a look at the 450 twin offerings over the weekend since all the cool kids are making the jump!

Looking for that magic unicorn that offers smooth power, fuel economy, and lighter weight, but looks like what I already have covers that segment already? My 701 Enduro rally build is lighter and makes more power albeit probably not as smooth and the seat is TALL.

Maybe when/if ever KTM launches the 500 Adventure?

You can have smoother (less) power, better fuel economy, a little bit more weight but it wears it better lower, and a lot worse suspension and ground clearance vs the 701

KTM 390 Rally for example

Apples and oranges. One is a dressage bred and trained Welsh Pony, the other is sa stunted Clydesdale. They both do the job but one does it slow with mass behind it and one does it like a gazelle on the savanna.

:thumbup

we have StonyBARF this September for an opportunity close to home (as I know you know), and then there is this opportunity, which is also show-up-or-don’t style:

End of Pavement Rally....Cedarville, CA August 13th-16th 2026

I know @ThumperX also knows this—but don’t let the fact that these venerable BARF events usually appear in the Dirty BARFing subforum put one off … they are both ADV worthy, and super-easy to show up at. :ride
