Any old (>60) track-day riders here?

Feel Like a Pro provided a Ninja 400
I did a couple with them, too. Bummed they have given up that business. Now there’s Rumble Strip Rentals, but they’re only offering the 300s, and I find them a bit underpowered to be fun for me.

The ninja 400 is an excellent track bike; fast enough to be fun, nimble and light so you can annoy bigger bikes in the corners and cheap enough that if you bin you won't cry.

Yeah, exactly that. I loved tormenting the the big bikes in the infield, only to watch them disappear down the front straight. And then I’d get to go and see if I could chase them down again. Big fun, just like you said.

Doc took me off Plavix after 1 year. Still take a baby aspirin daily though. I feel great again after 3 stents.

Still taking Xarelto, but had a PFA Cardio Ablation after 50 weeks in atrial fibrillation.

Like taking a vacation in a tropical paradise after clinging to a runaway locomotive.
I love my Electrophysiologist!

Not quite there yet - just 57. I have a weekend at Thunderhill coming up in early May, the first time I've been on track in ~15 years. Can't wait!

I plan to be doing more track days until I can't. I just have to do this year's on a bike I already own as a proof-of-concept for my wife. Once I've "proven" that I still enjoy riding track (and how could I not?), I'll have clearance to get a track bike. I'm pretty sure I have that in the bag.

Then...racing at 60+? :D

I started racing last year at 57, if that counts.

I'm 63 and have no plans to stop racing. Loading up the trailer for AFM first round at Thill as we speak. No one is getting a second go-round here...if you love riding, get out and do it. If you are a competent street rider and love sportbikes, there is a class for you. No reason not to come out and enjoy doing what you love, the comradery of the racing community and staying young of mind and spirit.

Ah man...jealous of Jeff going racing. GO WIN!

Then again....define racing.
I'm actually in the process of going back to Sprint Car racing again, but with much less of a program and commitment.
I fully expect to be campaigning a 600 Class car next season.
That's a small sprint car powered by a 600cc motorcycle engine.
Still kinda moto related. Gixxer power is gixxer power, after all.

Bryce Prince is doing most of the motors for the top guys in that class Jeff. He's using R6 motors....if you want me to connect you guys, it's no trouble.

I just may take you up on that....
My engine guy broke his pelvis on a dirtbike a few weeks ago.
(I hate it when this stuff happens to me :laughing)

This 2024 R7 was pretty neglected when I brought it home yesterday. Chain hadn’t been serviced in forever, oil filter was rusty, wheels were filthy, radiator fluid was low, hadn’t been ridden at all in last several months.

So I spent most of day yesterday and today cleaning it up, taking off street parts, and doing a pretty full service - oil/filter, chain maintenance, chain adjustment (was uneven and loose), check alignment, top up antifreeze, check brake fluid, clean up wheels. Lot of work, but she’s lookin pretty now. Still need a few more track mods, but those can wait.

Shakedown run was the hour ride home from East Bay. Tonight heading up to T-Hill for trackday - new race DOTs are waiting for me there.

Thanks, all, for sharing your stories. You inspired me to go all in and commit to getting back out there (while I still can).
