Bazzaz ZF-I vs. ECU Reflash?

So I am debating on getting a Bazzaz ZF-I or having my ECU reflashed. Reflashing seems to be the popular option these days, but I wanted to get peoples feedback. This is for an '09 R6 that may pull double duty at the track and street.

What do you think? Pros/Cons of either.

If you wanted to change maps, could it be easily done for a reflashed ECU?

There are two options. 1) Send it back to the place who did the reflash and have them do it 2) Buy the appropriate connections (more money) and do it yourself

I had my ECU reflashed and I'm completely happy with it. I had it mapped to my Akra Carbon exhaust, smoothed out the throttle control. Lowered the fan temp, cut injector decel, and removed the speed limiter.

If I wanted it remapped I would have to send the ECU back in (free).

But check out Vcyclenut - he has a lot of experience flashing as he does only Yamahas.

You can achieve same and different things through doing both. If you run a bazzaz you can tap into the QS option and change maps fast through its software. If you get a reflash you can get a more precise tune and change some oem parameters inside the ecu. If you do a flash its best to have a shop do it on a dyno to get the most out of the bike. It all depends on what your looking for. It's like running a bazzaz pre programmed map vs a custom dyno map, it's 2 different ways of doing things but it depends what you are after. Hope it makes sense.

And sending an ECU back in is not always free due to you paying shipping, being without an ecu so no pt being able to ride, and risking the chance of damaging your ecu with minimal help from the shippers

All good feedback. I think I'll get the Bazzaz unit. I can share different maps as well going this route.

Bazazz is much more flexible, allow you to change quickshifter speed ( if you have one), fuel maps, build an alternate map, and change on the fly if you have self mapper. I love mine.If you have TC you can also adjust that. It's as simple equation, pay more and get more.

My '08 R8 track bike came with the Bazzaz Fi and reflashed ECU. Dyno'd with the full Graves works Ti exhaust. QS and TC. It's a beast.

I highly recommend going this route.

Hold up. Doesn't the reflashed ECU negate the reason for a ZF-I? I've had the QF and TC set up on past race bikes. I enjoyed it, but wanted to go something different this time around as this bike will more or less do 90% street duty.

All depends on what was flashed. The term "flash" is so widely used these days and it can confuse a lot of people looking into it. You can run both, iv even seen a bazzaz zeroed out so the flashed ecu calls the fuel management shots and bazzaz does the rest

Excellent feedback. Picked up the Bazzaz. May do the flash too.

My buddy built the bike, he can answer better than I can. He helped build an R6 that won a title recently, and he's owned a couple himself. He's an Engineer, like me and he get's way too deep into this type of thing....

All I can say is, it's dialed. I can pretty much hang with equal riders on 1k bikes (FWIW) They pull a little on long straights but I can reel them back in as soon as we enter the 1st corner. The bike is amazing. Very well thought out.
