Berryessa Newbie Ride - April 25th, 9:30 AM

Cool and overcast day, but the riding was good, but no newbs showed up. :cry But Beemerchick showed up, and we had a nice ride.

While we we waiting to see if anyone else was going to show,we noticed that it looked like every car club in the East Bay was having an event. First, there was a big group of low riders that headed past, when I noticed that in the Shell station across the street there was a big MOPAR contingent getting ready to go, so I figured we'd hit the road ahead of them. Good thinking, but all too soon a huge group of Lancias (and one Hudson convertible) got ahead of us while we were sitting at a red light. Honestly, I've never seen so many Lancias in one place. Too bad they were so slow. We we able to get by a few on Wooden Valley, and a couple more on 121, but when they turned left at Posers, I pulled us over to wait for them to clear out. Then we had to keep waiting as the MOPAR contingent came past, plus a couple of gaggles of cruisers (we figured - correctly - that they'd all stop at Turtle Rock, but we decided to reverse the direction of our loop by staying on 128 as far as Lake Hennessy, then head up the canyon into Pope Valley. Since there were no newbs, we expanded the loop to include Ink Grade and Howell Mountain before heading to the bridge. LOTS of bikes at the bridge.

Most of the way back we were unimpeded. :ride

It was a good day, and I encouraged Beenerchick to register for a BARF rally.

i'll be meeting at Cordelia Starbucks with another group a 10am today, our paths may cross, otherwise stay warm, ride safe and enjoy the day (y) :ride

Wish I could join. It's bit too far from here (more than the ride itself).
I am hoping and looking forward to the Mt. Hamilton newbie ride that elders have promised
Mt Ham is not newb friendly for a group ride. It has a few tricky turns.
On the other hand, it is a fantastic turn learning ride and each section provides progressively bigger challenges.
Hit me up and we can do a one on one thing. Weekdays are best if you can do that.

WOW, but one participant?

That cleanup the Govmt. did on lakeside resorts, really killed what was, , ,
nobody goes up there any more
Always a line of boats drug up there, car loads of water players,
Chasing chicks & beer.
Now, a ride for spring rolls, , , :dunno

Thanks for a nice day of riding Kurt…especially once we lost the pretty, but slow, classic cars (belching thick clouds of exhaust 💨). And I will definitely sign up for a rally (or two)!
