Brian Williams; PTSD, Alzheimers, or just full of shit?

its funny how a guy lies, and is (rightly so) ostrasized, but when fox news lies (regularly) no one seems to care

With the former, he was someone that the general public seemed to accept as honest and truthful. With the latter, fox already lost the respect of most of the educated population so I imagine that's why no one cares about their shenanigans.

Well, he's certainly a source of infotainment, as proven above.

I had mentioned the deal about him being a late-night talk show celeb. Based on a story I read, his first foray into bs'ing the helicopter incident WAS on a talk show. So I further rest my case about these people trying to be all things to all people, instead of news readers.

We are supposed to believe they are "journalists." That they write stories and stuff. Not that people would be that interested, but I would like to see the guy sit down and write a news story, and see if he could.

OMG this can't be te truf

When Will Fox News Fire Bill O’Reilly For Lying About Combat Duty?
...
As noted above, and contrary to his statement, Bill O'Reilly has never been in combat. ... His pretend bluster and machismo is all just a bunch of fantasizing of himself as a hero. So how is that any different than the offenses for which Brian Williams is being pilloried?

There are, however, some very real differences between Williams and O'Reilly. Williams has been found to be less than truthful on this one occasion. O'Reilly has lied repeatedly over his career at Fox News with plenty of documentation to prove it. What's more O'Reilly has demonstrated himself to be an arrogant, rude, bully who shoves his usually inane opinion down the throats of his guests and his viewers. That's something that cannot be attributed to Williams.

:laughing

The only legitimate reason to ever watch Bill O'Reilly is to hold vigil on whether God will smote him on teevee for all his bs. Sadly, it would probably turn you towards atheism because he is still kickin.

Gobs of people thrive on being lied to.

Business , and religion would collapse, if the lying stopped.

The textile business would take a hit...as well...I Mean, there is a ton of liars that count on the super stunning/awesome suit, to make them look like a respectable person.

On the biggest stories -- invasion of Afghanistan and Iraq -- you would find it difficult to show that Fox lied more than the lefty outlets, such as CNN and NY Times (remember Judith Miller). Distinction without a difference.

Let's not forget that Brian Williams was being a cheerleader for an unjust invasion when this incident supposedly occurred.

Distinction without a difference.

Oh don't get me wrong, the entire USA television media was simply another win of the bush admin leading up to those wars

It was disgraceful

It's the little things that really annoy and remind me of this reality. Apparently, most of the press follows conventions established by the New York Times in terms of jargon and names.

My peeves during Gulf War were "elite Republican Guard" (hardly) and "Somali warlords" (just waay too close to Samurai warlords for me).

The fact that they act like a herd and follow, even in silly jargon, tells one that they aren't even trying to be original or discerning, just parroting each other. I suppose someone will argue that it somehow unified us in our noble quest and purpose.

Don't forget "operational pause." Mind-bending. We were all Schwarzkopf-approved war experts by the end of it.
