A lot of Harley Pirates here do the whole "barely a bowl tilted back over the crown of the head" thing...never once seen an LEO bat an eye at it.

Judge said cops can't do that about 25 years ago.

A federal judge ordered the California Highway Patrol on Friday to

stop its unconstitutional enforcement of the states motorcycle-helmet law.

The ruling by U.S. District Court Judge Napoleon A. Jones Jr. says that

officers can no longer subjectively single out bikers for wearing helmets that

the CHP deems unsafe.

I don't live in California anymore and I don't think a ninth circuit decision on how not to enforce another state's law would apply here anyway. There is no federal helmet law.

There are a few components in my life that I most definitely do not want quick release. My helmet is at the top of that list.

So what you are saying is it is advised to move at least 5 miles away...

You can unstrap your helmet after 5 miles.

I guess my main question is why even bother with the bike if it's only a couple of blocks?

What's wrong with walking?
