Definitely On my list of things I never want to do again:
Dial in/tune carburetors, automotive or moto

Man so thinking about going FI on the 70 in that vein I am going to drop the gas tank and put one with baffles so I can have options later.I'm not saying I can't.
I understand the process, I'm pretty good at it but it is pretty much a PITA I'd like to avoid going forward.
I have had great victories, and miserable failures, and a lot of time spent .
But, like drinking too much, lessons learned in older age now say "so dumb, not worth it"
Holley sniper FTW
Put an Aces FI on my friends fj40 with a tbi350, another fj40 with a 350 I did the sniper. Put a few snipers on the OG 6 cylinders of fj40s also.
LS in my fj40
Slowly getting away from carbd bikes.
The only time I will be touching it a quadrajet again is to remove it and put it in a box to be replaced with fuel injection.

Nobody uses Q-jets anymore. Everything is Holley or AFB style these daysTruth, a dialed in Q-jet is sweet and they have the BEST, KOOLEST, RAW SOUND at W.O.T.
Not enough CFM's? Don't know about that, the 800 CFM's feed BBC's and SBC's quite nicely. Look at the NHRA Stock and Super Stock drag racing where an OEM carburetor is require, the Q-jet was a top performer. John Lingenfelter, a drag racer and engine builder, was among the first to turn the Quadrajet into a record-setter on his Super Stock Chevy's running in the "9's".
Often overlooked was the need for a high-volume fuel pump (not high pressure like in an FI application) and larger fuel lines to keep the beast happy. I've got an 800 CFM Q-jet, pulled off a '72 Buick, 455-Stage 1 engine. It's future residence is to be on a 400-SBC in a '54 Chevy 5 window pickup w/Turbo 400 trans.
I very much concur.Definitely On my list of things I never want to do again:

I had a Q-jet on a 455 Olds in my 18ft Tahiti jet boat. When you heard that "BEST, KOOLEST, RAW SOUND at W.O.T." You knew things were about to get fun.Truth, a dialed in Q-jet is sweet and they have the BEST, KOOLEST, RAW SOUND at W.O.T.

Oh yeah. A guy I knew years ago had a flat bottom vee-drive boat with a Tim Morgan built supercharged 454 with open headers. He took me out on it a couple times and hearing that thing scream was exhilarating.I had a Q-jet on a 455 Olds in my 18ft Tahiti jet boat. When you heard that "BEST, KOOLEST, RAW SOUND at W.O.T."
