The what are my coping skills are question? Got me thinking about what really helps me stay centered when life gets stressful.
For me, being on or around the water has always been one of the biggest things.
When I was younger, surfing was almost like meditation.
Something about being in the ocean, reading the waves, and focusing on the moment would quiet everything else down.
These days, I find that same feeling through kayaking, boogie boarding, swimming, or even just sitting by a river and listening to the water. It helps me slow down and be present.
Reading has also become an important outlet. Having quiet time alone with a good book gives my mind a chance to reset and step away from whatever is going on.
Another big one for me is riding my motorcycle. When I'm riding, I enter a flow state where my attention is completely on the road, the bike, and the ride itself. All the noise and distractions seem to fade away. It's hard to worry about much else when you're fully focused on the moment.
Looking at it now, I realize all of these activities have something in common. They pull me into the present and help me reconnect with myself.
Friendships also play a big part in my coping skills.
I'm curious if others experience something similar.
What are your coping skills, and what activities help bring you back to center?
