Forgot to respond back, I ended up riding Tamarancho, did about four laps of the Flow trail and then rode down to Gestalt for some cold ones!

Decided on the Portuguese Hawaiian

I ride every week year round. Usually really remote dirt bike trails. Lots of it where I live.

Skiing takes precedence now, however, April through November, I try to get out 3-4x per week on the bike. I feel lucky having trails within riding distance from the house and many options less than an hours drive away.

Also, Marin County Parks is officially considering allowing Class 1 pedal assist e bikes to ride the roads and trails that are already open to bicycles.

Class 1 e-bikes are pedal-assist only, with no throttle, and a maximum assisted speed of 20 mph.

IMO this is a no brainer, as it will bring Marin County Parks into alignment with the policies of all the other local lands managers, Califonia state law which defines class 1 pedal assist e bikes as bicycles, and the reality on the ground.

Yeah, and according to some of the more strident bike haters, the e bikes batteries will explode and burn down the mountain.

The fact that folks have already been riding e bikes for 15-20 years without any such disasters is of no interest to some of these haters...

They often come up with wild stories of death and destruction, most of which have little to no connection to reality.

Which is why it is so important for us to comment in a calm and rational manner.

Lots of good info, lots of thoughtful comments, a bit of HOHA crazy, and a strong comeback from a very pissed off board member!

So many great proposals, we shall see what the HOHAs do to fight us, and we'll see what we end up with. But it really does seems like we are going to make some progress here, I guess that's why some of the HOHAs are getting pissy.
