Hey all,

Friend is riding or trailering his m/c out to Yellowstone/Grand Tetons. I don’t have too much time so booked a flight into Bozeman MT. He’ll be out there for 2-3 weeks, his Subaru can barely tow one bike and I don’t want to burden him with taking mine out there and being responsible for it.

Anyone ever rent a motorcycle?

Saw this:

TIA,
Nate

I've hired/rented bikes in Italia, Scotland, Sweden, but not in Yellowstone country.
We had a place over on the Idaho side of border, for a some years, and kept a few beater bikes there when we had it. Not a tremendously fun place to ride, unless you like dirt, back country stuff.

It's almost a day and a half ride from the bay area. Although, the bikes in your signature aren't the bikes I'd wanna ride to Yellowstone.

I say, trailer, or rent!

I rented a road king on Kauai... it was too small for me.

I have rented multiple times in Hawaii - Heritage Softtail, KLR 650, 390 Duke. All were one day rides and they at least included a helmet.

I was going to rent one last month in Kauai - I even brought along a riding jacket and gloves this time - but it looked certain that I would get wet if I went anywhere interesting that week. So I skipped it that time. If I go back there again I'll likely try to rent again.

Check with your insurance provider to see if your coverage wraps to a rental. Rental bike are a great way to ride locally without having to ride or ship your own bikeplaces.

Not in the US but friends have used Eagle Rider with good success.
Them and RidersShare were the first ones that came to mind for me, too.

The closest ER locations are Missoula, MT or Jackson,WY and their options are nearly all (or all) Harley.

Riders Share has a bunch of listings for Bozeman, though, with a lot more variety.

I did a twofer, Maui & Oahu, very scientific, , ,
I was in the HD market, and wanted to know the different feelings, between a FXR and a soft tail.
I did buy an '03 FatBoy, really liked the LowRider, but for the short travel suspension, I'd fix that.

There was an option to rent a Dino, for a day, Magnum P. I. ?

Moto Selection, @ Beartooth Pass, get one with 3 + gallons, I was sweatin' fuel issues with my V-rod from Cody, , ,

Cancelled my flight. Decided to make the drive and trailer my motorcycle. Friend told me to drive out there. This post might be useful to someone in the future so please tell us who you used and your overall experience.

I rented a small bike on one of the Greek islands my wife and I visited. No helmets were available. That evening I learned of one of the hazards of riding a rental. While zooming along I went for another gear. I suddenly found myself in first gear with the rear tire locked up and skidding. I quickly up shifted a few times to make things OK again. But it was sure exciting to find that the bike had a circular shift pattern. No wonder there are so many people in the bars in the evening sporting road rash.

The island of Hawaii is like 8 times the size of Kauai.
I shoulda thought of that. :laughing

The harley dealer on Kauai was great. We showed up with no reservation and they treated us great!
I had reserved a brand new goldwing from another place. When we got there to pick it up, he said "Oh sorry, I just sold that bike."

I'm in the same exact boat as you Nate! My father and I have an epic trip planned later this summer to ride Bear Tooth Pass in Montana. The rental market is fairly limited there. We initially wanted to rent some HD Panamerica's from Eaglerider, but the cost was a bit more than we expected. We ended up renting a BMW F800gs from Riders Share and a Triumph T-100 Bonny from Twisted Road. Rental options are limited, but for us the driving or riding out there was not an option time wise!

When is your trip Nate? We are getting excited for the ride as it looks beautiful out there!
