So I get a kick out of the creative ways people personalize their plates. I think it's a waste of money, but that's because I'm thrifty. Here are some of my faves from over the years. I'd love to see what everyone else has to share...

And I think it's one of the best bargains out there, to have something totally unique that is mine only. I have five personalized plates currently, plus a bunch of old ones framed and hanging on my wall in the garage.

This photo is from more than ten years ago when I still owned Ducatis. Since the spelling that I wanted was not available, I got GRAMMPA for the motorcycle and GRAMPAA for the Mustang. ("M" for motorcycle, "A" for auto.) When I bought the XR650L it was obvious what I needed to get for it, so I ordered THUMMPA the same day that I bought it (last four letters identical). Those two plates are now on my wall, since I didn't have to turn them in when I moved.

Couldn't get the same plates in Idaho, because motorcycles only get six letters for some stupid reason. So my current bikes have GRAMPA and THUMPR.

Don't know if it's worth the bother or not to show what is on my cars.

My own plates are my favorites. I also had one on my old Harley V-Rod that said “HD VROB”

I don't hate the plates, I just like to save money. I drive a damn honda fit with 264k miles on it. Maybe I'll get "CHP BSTD" for it...

Elvira and Svartur both have personalized plates.

Nice. I think my favorite is the Viper from Oregon with "STUPID" on it. "I QUIT" from Wisconsin is probably second.

I have 3. I dig them too.

Duc = HWYAV8R
Suzuki = 2WLAV8R (license plate frame says flying low to the ground)
Vette = 4WLAV8R
Husky 510 got turned down by the DMV. I wanted BUDTARD. It was available but I guess TARD is not cool.

I have my Mom and Dad's plates on my garage wall with a few others my Wife and I have had over the years.

My daily driver does not have one.

I enjoy seeing them and trying to piece the message together. Some are very cool.

I saw one last night in a parking lot. I should have taken a picture.
"07 MV". It was an 07 MV Agusta Senna and it looked showroom.
An old friend of mine, Frank Torr, was a life long pilot, WWII vet and had a plate on his truck AV8Torr.

Mine:

MY F16N: Got that (yellow on blue) plate in 1988 when I was maintaining the rarest, fastest, quickest, of the operational F16's, the 'N'.

MY EA6B: The EA6B is a 4-seat electronic warfare aircraft. The plate is on a 4 seat electric car.

EJECTX3: "Eject, eject, eject." is the universal command used to communicate to the other crew to initiate the ejection process.

TEN8501 and WONO851: 10851 is the CVC for stolen vehicle.

Fave was a Cali blue plate I saw in a magazine back in the 70's...

"FAA QUE"

Assuming that wouldn't fly by the censors today.

sadly no picture, but i saw RYTRD years ago. i'm sure the owner wanted it to say RETIRED. i didn't read it as such

My fave was on a scion
“IMNABOX”

FYI for those interested, CA has service plates (Army, Navy, Marine, AF, etc.), one letter is consumed by a service logo. You don't need to be a vet to get one.

My BMW S1000 has the plate "WEAKSOZ" and my best riding buddy had "AWSMSOZ" on his F800.

I like those that take a little noodling to figure out.

Best yet on a VW Rabbit, "I'M LATE" (Wait for it....)
