Tomorrow marks the 4 year anniversary of a very sad day for Oakland PD and all law enforcement. Sgt. Mark Dunakin, Officer John Hegge, Sgt. Irv Romans, and Sgt. Dan Sakai all lost their lives while serving our community.

Please take a moment to think positive thoughts for their families, friends, and co-workers.

March 21st might be a good day to thank an officer for doing their job.

To Mark,

I miss you my friend. You were a great person, and you are dearly missed.

Edit:

Do not stand at my grave and weep,
I am not there... I do not sleep.
I am the thousand winds that blow...
I am the diamond glints on snow...
I am the sunlight on ripened grain...
I am the gentle autumn rain.
When you waken in the morning's hush,
I am the swift uplifting rush
Of gentle birds in circling flight...
I am the soft star that shines at night.
Do not stand at my grave and cry—
I am not there... I did not die...

Sorry for your personal loss guys.
4 years does not take away that.

an excerpt from a poem by PoliceOne Columnist Dan Marcou
Forgotten they never could be
Forgotten they never should be
Thought they never would be
Killed in the line of duty

End of Watch
...long may you run

16 years later.

Erv was a friend, and a Marine brother. You will never be forgotten.

A week before they were murdered I was on a beater Ninja 250 I’d picked up for my niece and we revved our motors at a red light. I was allowed to “beat” beat them off the line then with a wave they smoked me. This was in Montclair on the way to the Wall. I think, it’s become fuzzy.

I recall that day like it was yesterday.
Simply awful.
OPD has it's hands full right now like never before....
I'm glad these individuals are still remembered.

Nice post Enchanter.
