The rolling hazards of our streets and highways.

I haven't made a scientific study but today, like a few other Fridays, I encountered some seriously FKed up Car, truck and Sprinter operators.

The winner might have been the driver of a Sprinter Van in the Pillar Point parking lot who forced a 60something guy on a pedal bike into a curb, just because he could not afford the 20 seconds it was going to take to Wait for him to cross the road.

Boom. Face First into tbe pavement, just after overtaking me against on coming cars! Then ....

Bye bye.

I stopped to lend assistance to gramps. Fortunately he was only sporting some road rash and a banged up thumb.
"No cops, please."

But Fridays strike me as having more than their share of MFs.
I don't typically venture out on weekends much these days so Ive no recent experience there.

There must be a consensus on which of the 7 days sucks the most, do.ya think?

I stopped to help a mobility quad, up back on the wheels, this week.
One of those overdone jobs with a top box, & chrome.
Top box spilled it's contents, Bud Ice and a quart left in a half gal, of whiskey.
Got off balance in the driveway cut, and rolled. Sidewalks are dangerous.
It was a Tuesday.
I find myself watching out for E- stuff operators, more players, more errors,
Gave room for two pre teeners on a E-bike, rolling hard in the bike lane.

This is why I avoid city riding. Drivers are nuts.
 
Yes, there is something about Frisky Fridays that brings about more carefree/careless behavior. Chomping at the bits for the weekend? Lighter a.m. traffic, so more room to protrude the elbows? I don't know!

In the sailing world, departing for a race or journey on a Friday is bad luck!
 
This thread got me thinking about last Sunday I had to run down to work for something. The traffic patterns felt different, and I was a little unsure of how drivers were reacting to me on my Moto compared to the normal commuters from my daily ride during the week. I had to double down on my awareness and dial back some of my aggressive riding. It felt like a lot of people driving around who might not normally be driving in the city.
 
People are idiots on the daily, just different idiots on different days. Most of my internal or sometimes external thoughts when cycling to work are basically "what the f are you doing?!"
 
in my region (livermore) thursdays' traffics usually sucks the most. All the "Thursday - its - a - long weekend - get - the - f*** - out - of - town" folks

Agreed, but only kinda.
You're talking about two different animals here.
A city driver will kill you by texting, sipping coffee, thinking about work and dropping an oblivious left turn across your path.
A coastal driver will kill you at speed after crossing a very warranted double yellow before taking out 150 yards of barbed wire and fence posts.
I know....dead is dead....but you're being killed by entirely different animals.
 
I drop off two of our daycare kids at school in the morning and see a lot of drivers taking “liberties” near the school.
Mostly driving in the bike lane for 2 blocks to avoid the line going into the school.
Rarely is there any traffic enforcement so they know they can get away with it.

Same here in my neighborhood, near Stern Grove.
Parents speed up.Vicente St, blowing stop signs and even cutting off other people walking their kids to school.
Pitiful.
 
Watched a whole family nearly bite it yesterday due to a rushed (and very illegal) left on market by a big black SUV. Thankfully the driver stopped and only ended up blocking traffic while they finished crossing. I resisted the urge to boot a quarter panel.

Parents around schools are the worst.
 
A cop could just stand near a school and wave over one offender after another for the half hour leading up to the first bell.

He could rack up a couple thousand in fines for the city, and whoever else, in no time.
And keep the kids safe - which is the point.
