iPhone Duo - who’s getting one?

LOL, Samsung and Motorola had that , 8 or more years ago.

of course, I don't think it was entirely useful ; (I think) people balked at the additional price of the extras, and, because of the limited processing power, it was slow for the phone.

I believe the same is still entirely possible right now, just no one does it, for a smartphone... and of course Apple users don't know about it. :D

I mean, you don't even need a monitor. You can do this on all wirelessly on your TV with a Samsung if you want.

It is Apple. They would rather bulldoze them all into a landfill in China than allow their pricepoint to drop.

Their products are all a mediocre rehashing of other companies innovations, Branding is seriously the ONLY thing they have going for them.
I think one of the smartest things Apple did was to create the “Apple ecosystem” with an array of products that all work together.
Switching to Android means losing a lot of integration.

That’s what Apple is counting on.

Android integrates. Ask anyone that has Goggle making constant attempts to link all devices. I don't really want my laptop browser to show POP UPS of my phone's text messages. I can disable it but get treated like an ingrate for not allowing the all-powerful Google to integrate my world.

I run MS and Android to avoid Apple's insidious Our Way Is The Only Way architecture. I understand for the largest part of the world, plug and play is better. Not for me.

Not advocating returning to Do Not Fold, Spindle or Mutilate. Just want to leave room to mold, spin and propagate my niche.

That's simply incorrect.

The day I spend $2500 on a phone, lock me up in an old folks home cuz I've lost my fuckin mind. :laughing

But it's kinda funny that we've crept up to $800 to $1000 for a flagship phone being kinda ok.

If we live long enough, and inflation keeps going the way it is, we will pay $2500 for a "normal" phone (neural linked of course)

I hated paying $1k for the X and for the 13 pro and then $1200 for the 17 Pro Max.

As you can see, I kept the first two for 4 years. I figure $250/year ($~21/month) for an iPhone is reasonable when broken down that way.

Pay $300/year is still kind of reasonable to me through 2029. By then, we will see what the Duo has evolved too. Or hell, may just give my wife my 17 Pro Max and get the Air 2 if it ever comes out with way better battery life.

“Honda innovated fuel injection in motos and Kawasaki is just rehashing that innovation. I’ll never buy a Kawasaki”. That’s what you sound like. So tiring.

Buying tech solely for innovation is silly. Many posters in here have already expressed a disinterest in first gen. The “rehash”, the 2nd gen often functions better and is reliable. And product competition is good for consumers.

You could prob cherry pick to support your “mediocre” point. But on avg, I suspect youre wrong. On avg, Apple products are better in most ways even when compared to the same price point.

Eccentric is only possible with disposable income. Will never stand in the way of someone that wants the best technology. Heck, I don't care if someone pays Bazillions for an autographed football, an exotic race car or a carbon-fiber whozamathingy.

Completely understand why someone would want an Apple device. Your money, your choices. My dislike of Apple is my choice...of Apple's choices.

Lol

Here we go
:rofl (y)

it's true. It's blind obedience... :rofl

they don't realize how restrictive the iOS/Pad/Phone interface is ; how fewer buttons and options to share you have.

And the spellcheck? Disgustingly atrocious in predicting something...you don't want. The g-phone correction is much better.

--

I personally don't care about the $2500... it shows how much richer I am of course--if anyone is looking. I guess I Won't forget the wide-eyes of that woman in an elevator when I had a blue phone once.. (it was a pretty phone I agree).

I keep my phones for about 5 years, and have been content. To me they're mostly internet browsers and a camera. I use very few apps, save those I have to (like the MLB app to get tickets), standard things like Weather, Reminders, Calculator, and a couple of games.

I appreciate things like face recognition. I don't use iCloud, I just sync my photos when I back up to my main machine, and all of my music comes from CDs anyway.

Blind obedience runs both ways.

But who gives a shit? Competition is good for the consumer. Buy and use what you like. Putting people down for what they spend their hard earn money on is low class room temperature IQ shit.

I use my iphone extensively for video taping my athletes for evaluation and showing them what they're doing.
I don't need more than what was available a few years ago.

IMHO, Apple has been far more willing to change and move shit since Jobs died, he may have been an asshole, but he was a very smart asshole who understood his audience.

I mean, from a sales perspective certainly, but it is exactly that integration that makes me hate their software.

lol funny you mention Honda. In the past they were an innovative company. These days, their business model is to sit back and see how everyone else does things…what’s good, what goes wrong, and then use that data to come out with their own version.

Sound familiar?

Define innovate?

IMO the most innovative thing Apple has accomplished recently is design their own silicon to replace Intel and make a translation layer to let old software keep working. It doesn’t get much more innovative than that. But that was 6yrs ago.

From who, Apple or Honda? You’re right, the Apple Silicone is the most trailblazing they’ve done at all in recent years. And to find something truly innovative they’ve done, at this point you’ve got to go back quite a ways now. Which I suppose is the original iPhone. Before that, perhaps the iMac and then the original Macintosh before that. People harping on Apple that they’re not innovating anymore and keeping all us sheep penned into their ecosystem…okay? All their stuff just works. And works well for the majority of people’s use case. Why everyone is expecting them to reinvent the wheel (a wheel that’s bigger than everyone else and a wheel that rolls very smoothly) every year is a concept I don’t get.

I could blather on some more as to why Honda just makes the same boring Accord year after year and doesn’t try anything new anymore, but I’m sure you see the similarities.
