iPhone Duo - who’s getting one?

I was wondering about the hinge, it has to be a plastic to flex,
and the other wear, like how you see your keyboard, worn into a plastic lap top screen,

The best review of the Duo. Even goes into the hinge.

I’m reading in the news about these new phones developing cracks in the screens near the hinge. If I wanted one, I’d wait.

Saw these pics....yuck on the inner screen of the Duo.

Several reviewers say the apps don’t work right yet. The sizing is off.
But everyone says Apple will be rectified in the coming months.

As much as I am glad to insult and denigrate their software all day, I am content to admit they usually make pretty good hardware, even if their pursuit of propritary widgets of even the most basic sort is deeply aggravating.

I would not be too eager to make a big deal of it yet.

Apple sources all of its OLED displays from Samsung, built to their (Apple's) specs. Samsung's first foldable phone came out like 7 years ago. So either they're trying to sabotage Apple with inferior displays, or Apple's specs are inferior.

Could a conversation like this took place...

Samsung Tech: Apple's design specs are all wrong. This is not going to work.
Samsung Exec: The customer is always right.
Tech: But these screens are going to fail.
Exec: You are right. However, the customer has the right.
Tech: What's going to happen?
Exec: You had better increase production of our folding model.

The damaged screens on Reddit are numerous enough for me to think there’s a design flaw. One account makes me think it’s the hinge breaking the screen. The user felt resistance in opening, tried to open it as nicely as possible, but it broke when fully open.

Someone at Apple rly screwed up.

I still don't understand why anyone would want a phone that opens like a book.:dunno
1.There is a screen in almost every building / room / second of our lives (cars too). If only there was a nice an unified way to use them with our personal settings and data without being tracks or leaking it all.... (looking at you LG HDTV)

2. Still being charged / nickel and dimed for tethering / hotspot on your devices and having your CAR hotspot a separate extra expensive charge is a bit of annoyance as well. If you are going to track all the shit I do on the internet at least let me access it for free..

The abundance of products doesnt mean everyone needs every item being made. Some will like it some not. Again I think a combo of iPad mini and phone works just fine.

My wife’s Duo delivery date is Dec 3.
She’s getting worried about all the reports of cracking screens and wants to switch to an 18 Pro Max.

I told her to give it a couple of more weeks and we’ll see.

Yikes, not a good rollout so far.

JerryRigEverything’s vids show that Apple’s IPX dust ingress rating is bullshit. So much sand got between the screen and the hinge. Pressure points back there will cause screen damage.

Anytime the thought enters my mind of unnecessarily updating my phone to whatever the new cool model is I then think what else could I better spend that money on and can easily come up with a long list of cooler stuff so no Duo for me.
