moved because you guys are smarter than me.
Sometimes.

when exactly is this or did it already happen? wondering if a c8 vette will be out there?

Two weeks ago...

There were a couple of the new Vettes on display, but I didn't see any driving around.

Car week was a shitshow this year. The car bro/Youtube crowd drove up from LA and turned downtown Carmel into an Oakland sideshow Friday night, complete with a number of arrests. They had to call in PD from neighboring cities and CHP.

This year was way different than last year. Way more open exhaust exotics tearing it up all over town all week. Hasn't the open race pipe thing been overdone just a bit by now?

Maybe another time.
Time and budget says Blackhawk Auto Museum, this year. .

I like the event at Laguna the best. I went to Pebble once, Concours Italiano at Quail a bunch of times and some auction things.

The racetrack is the best. Met Brian Redman last time.

Sad to hear it’s going this way. I’ve still never been to it. Makes me think the Woodward is the one to really go to now.

I had comp tickets. Because, you know, Acura. Just couldn’t get away.

I usually go to Carmel on Friday night after the track but was too wiped out to do so. I noticed a lack of PD presence and now know why. The new $ guys who don't get classic cars and just show up with loud lambos just don't get it. I also noticed the crowd at the racetrack is getting older and older. If this event is going to endure, we're going to either attract a younger crowd somehow, possibly include newer race cars? IDK.

On Friday I buy GA tix for all my current and former employees to try and get them excited about the cars we work on. Lots of fun strolling the pits teaching them about the cars and their evolutions. Seeing race cars based on the cars we get in the shop is always fun. One of the younger guys asked when the new race cars were hitting the track? :facepalm
On Saturday a family emergency precluded my SO from going so I had a former AMA #1 plate guy with me. Strolling around the pits with him and we spotted Wayne Rainey, had a chat. My friend sees things differently than I and it was really fun to see it from his perspective.

It will be interesting to see what happens next year. I can't imagine the cops will let this happen again. The uproar from the locals has been pretty loud and the rich folk here usually get their way.

It seems that it was mostly caused by the Lambo/Ferrari/Corvette car bro crowd from LA that came up this year to produce content for their YouTube channels.

The cops were pretty smart about it though. After Friday night's shitshow, rather than just close the street, they set up cones to divert traffic in a really inconvenient way, so if you were trying to cruise a crowded area, you were SOL. They had people making turn after turn back and forth to get through downtown. The dbags quickly got tired of that and left and it was much quieter downtown on Saturday night.
