Mysterious rib pain

Maybe my latest sleep injury.

I was rolling around at night trying to sleep when it felt like the uppermost left ab muscle cramped up. It was very intense and localized to that one area. I struggled for hours trying to stretch it and get it to relax. That was Saturday morning.

The pain has become more localized to the lowest rib from where it connects to the sternum to about an inch or two down the rib (costal cartilage). It's too painful to lay on my side. Couple days ago I was trying to roll over the sore spot and there was a pop and a bit of give. Yesterday I was sitting on the bike and yanked on the bar and there was another painful pop.

It's been feeling more like a broken rib but nothing could have caused a break. I cannot explain what's going on here.

Maybe go see Dr?

I had abdominal pain - I have extremely high pain tolerance, like I didn't go see and get diagnosed with fracture ribs for like 4 days in the past

But I got diagnosed with pancreatitis and diverticulitis after that ER visit, I suffered for almost 24 hrs before going in, I had sharp pains up to 8-9 non stop

Sounds like a floating rib potentially? Had this happen after a mountain bike crash and subsequent attempt at a moto road trip while still sore. Mounting the bike and I felt a pop in my back where the ribs meet the spine, hurt like hell took a few months to heal as I recall.

I say a detached rib from the sternum. 35 years ago we were leaving for a houseboat party, wife saw I was crying as I was tying my shoes. Long story short Dr at urgent care said the Xray showed detached rip and not my heart. Dr said will heal it self but took a month or two. You will not sleep well. Still remember the pain 35 years later.

I have a rib that does that once in a while. I broke 3 and one seems to move a little if I lean on the rib cage -- pop. It will stay sore for a week and then go away. Figure it will always remain at this point as it has been almost 30 years.

Good luck with it ctwo.

I think it's more in your Mcribs.

 Fixed

Also....
My guess was going to be body thetans ;)

"Body thetans" are a specific Scientology concept for spiritual entities attached to a person, and getting rid of them involves their confidential, paid auditing processes at high levels (OT III and above) within Scientology, but people outside this belief system often seek to clear "negative energy" or "attachments" through spiritual practices like smudging, meditation, positive actions, self-care, and cleansing rituals, with methods ranging from burning sage to spiritual baths or even focusing on breaking "soul ties" through no-contact and self-compassion"

Thanks! Nothing is better than misery's company.

I bet that's right. 9 years ago when I pressed those levers with my abdomen there and it popped, that was likely the initiating injury. I have this compulsion to stretch, like it wants to pop. Like popping a knuckle for relief.

Dr. later this month just for the annual, and for this they wouldn't do anything anyway.

The way things are going if ailments were gold, I'd be the pot at the end of the rainbow.

I tried the "DO fish swim?", "Do birds fly?",
Compared to what I found within myself, a power spurt entering the planetary alignment,
year 2000.

Ethics IS the key, and way too many fails of that, during "training"
"Drugs are verboten, causing all sorts of ailments. "
Yet Caffeine and Nicotine are consumed, like crutches, in the state of "Clear"
Massage's have flattened some of my muscle pains, Impact damage, has more issues,
No leaches, used.
YMMV

Are you suggesting I'm unethical?

But the little Kaiser nurse that worked my back like a stomping moose recalibrated my senses.

I was thinking this at first but then days later this popping and it wasn't getting better. I've had this on my flank and usually it would resolve in a day or two at most.

I've noticed improvement during the day.
The one in your flank, if above your hips might have been a kidney stone.

This sounds like a cramp that might have caused injjury and is now spasming.

I'm sure flank was a cramp. It came and went with severe intensity. Over a couple hours.

I do not notice the rib much at all during the day. I jumped down about 4' onto concrete and that hurt like a bitch. I think it's detached, but I don't know. Spasms mean twitching to me. It's not that. Everything is relaxed. It hurts most when laying down to sleep and letting gravity compress my ribcage. I have to ease into it. And then I'm a tosser and turner. By morning I was agony again. I havent been able to sleep more than 4 hrs for almost a week now.

It feels half better. The only things that cause any discomfort are sleeping on that side and putting on my right moto glove.

Dr. isn't until next week but it will be nothing to see by then. I'll have to remember to make a list.
