Phoenix, the hot place

I'd guess we have maybe a decade left before we start seeing some of the hottest inhabited places on earth becoming uninhabitable.

I was in Phoenix attending college in 1990 and felt that all time record high of 122°F. It was a bit warm.

About 11:30 am, Mingus got hit by lightening, all kinds of sirens going off in town, but nothing on the Mtn.
& 45 minutes later, no response.
Wind @ 24, 94*, 24% humidity.

Monsoon due today, rain, and sparks,

It is a new park, been open just over a year, and has filled to 80%.
No sense of community, no laundry, no clubhouse, office is restricted, not quite the RV normal.
and, yes,
Monsoon season, local events are fewer, due to weather, heat minimizes tourist visits.
Clouds limit solar heating, gives that huge blue sky, some dramatic lighting/lightening,

The fire, without any response, has put itself out, somehow?
Last rain was June 1st, didn't get much here, yesterday, intermittent spitting, and it went out.

Last nite news reported a local HVAC guy passed, working on a house in Dewey.
Just over the hill from me, it has some elevation, but reported temps 150+ in the attic.
58 years, working for himself, new business.
Hittin' close to home, , ,

That's hard. When I had some wiring done in my attic, the fellow up there had a claustrophobic panic attack.

It's been just AMAZING weather here in So Cal, here it is July 31, and I think it's one of our first 90+ degree days.

But when it gets crazy hot, and I have workers here (for whatever reason, notably the gardeners), I just send them home.

They'll likely just move on to their next task, but, no, in high heat, sorry, not on my watch -- stuff can wait.

HVAC work like that needs to be done at 6am, to be honest.

Rigid makes a battery operated fan with misting.

If you're going to do that kind of work, invest in things like that to make it safe.

I washed windows during the summer in ABQ when I was home from college. Not as hot as Phoenix, but the windows on the buildings would be so hot you couldn’t wash them, soap and water would just evaporate before your eyes. The guy I worked with washed windows in Phoenix and said they worked from 2am to 10am. Fun gig, saw lots of crazy stuff on the streets below us.

Stop the presses,
Stay tuned,

One of the Phoenix Weather girls just gave us THE term of this summers' weather, , ,

Nonsoon, so simple, yet explains the disappointment.

Still forecasting 117 for Thursday.

My brother lives down in Tuscon, he told me that they've changed over to Heat Index, kind of like wind chills to elevate the numbers.

He said that their heat index for Tuscon was 126 with the actual air temp at 114.

I was in St David AZ last week, yeah you don't want to be out in the sun in Aridzona.

With a heat index like that, only one way, , ,
Tuscon was having a monsoon event, to have humidity that high, before it rains.
TV news was trying to explain to Az. locals about the heat wave that hit the east coast.
Why it was so bad for them., over what we get, dry, , ,
nothing more than a tease, ratings and all that.

After it rains, temps come down, clouds hide the sun, , ,
not mentioned.
