sunrise from Father Crowley Point, Death Valley National Park, Inyo County, California, 03/26/2026, 6:54 am … (got up at 4:30am so I could ride up from the campground at Panamint Springs Resort in enough time to do some stargazing, too, w00t. I’ll spare us those pics … :laughing :clown )

Often I read @SFMCjohn s ride reports and look at his pictures and dreamily wish I was along with him on the adventures,
other times, like this, I say no way in hell.
At the very least make Weaverville aka HoHo Rally. I usually drive up since it’s a long way.

Finally got to ride the beater DR 650.

A little bit of highway and about 60 mi of dirt roads. Did fine, got me home in one piece. Felt better after I let some air out of the tires

As I was leaving town to go I met up with my normal dirt bike crew about to go out on a hard single track ride.
They checked it out, one rode it, and they couldn't understand why I have this bike when I have a plated 500EXC and a pimped out KTM 890 adventure R already.

He said this bike is slower, heavier feeling with worse suspension and brakes than the others, why ride this???
He's not wrong about any of that but I guess that's part of the fun and the challenge.

Lol

Lame picture of the bike

but it's the only time I stopped because I wanted to check directions on an intersection as I've never ridden these roads before.

I never stop to take pictures, I just love jamming fast and furious and enjoying the view as I go
