Another mail run into Sedona, Got THE sunny day this week, rode to the top of Oak Creek Vista.
Still not cold enough in the canyon to turn colors, mostly dull grey, burnt out from summer heat,
I placed a few pix in the Fall color thread.

Today I stopped by the Repack anniversary gathering at the Marin Museum of Bicycling and Mountain Bike Hall of Fame in Fairfax.
I missed the anniversary ride this morning, which reportedly drew about 30 riders, but I still had a great time catching up with old friends and soaking in the history. There was a keg of beer, plenty of stories, and the kind of atmosphere that reminds you how much mountain biking grew out of a close-knit community.
Walking through the museum, it struck me how many people in the motorcycle world probably started on bicycles. You can see the connection in the machines, the tinkering, the adventure, and the personalities.
Hard to spend time in Fairfax and not appreciate how much of mountain biking's history traces back to these hills and the people who rode them.

We must live near each other. We tend to hit the same spots.
I grew up in Marin, but that was in the 60's and 70's.
The Marin I grew uo in doesn't exist anymore.
I graduated from Redwood High at the base of Mt Tam. We'd get a girlfriend to load our bikes into the back of a truck and take us to the top of the mountain to bomb the fire roads back down to town. We had no idea we'd be part of history.
