Rescued, from a Salvation Army store in Fairfield, early eighties.
I replaced the old rusty rims for nice RED anodized, for a few years,
The faded paint on the chain guard says, Corvette, I believe Prince has crafted a song about my,
Little Red Corvette.
The old coaster brake hub, lost its' stop, I had a 7 speed Shamano (sp)
laced in, trying to maintain the "clean look" I also went with another coaster brake.
Never seen another, like it. Not the normal English 3 speed, no brake hub.
One of these days I should replace that cable to the bars, with old style down tube frame shift lever. Minimize that cable, cleaner look.

This bike IS the proven, playa cruiser, , ,

ya, rental bikes are always interesting. It was noisy and had slow AF uncomfortable tires. But it was fine for flat-ish 45mi/day in Taiwan. The bag system was pretty good though.
I was on the aids ride in 2011. Pulled into San Miguel with a flat tire. They only had armadillo tires and I’m a gator skin loyalist.

I hated those tires so much. Finished the aids ride, got back to the city and replaced the tire asap. Bad tires suck.

Oh man, I would die if that happened to me.

I've yet to buy a bike that didn't get new tires on day 1. It's hilarious how much good tires change the riding experience.

Gatorskins are considered slow now

I liked them for their ride and flat resistance in the city. I’ll probably throw some on Schmoopsie when I wear out the tires it has now.

Random BARF software thing that's relevant to this thread.

My last pic wasnt showing in the post and the attachment thumbnail was missing. I downsized the image to ~3000x2000 (7.2MB to 3.4MB) and re-uploaded it. That fixed it. Now everything shows as expected.

If you don’t mind spending about $100/tire and getting a tubeless set up right, the world of fast(er) tires is life changing :laughing

I can’t wait to give these a shot.

The tires I'm replacing on my road bike are Continental GP 5000 S TR's in the 25mm width. I have about 2-2.5k miles on them. I have used them for Alcatraz twice and to train on. For a "racier" tire, they have help up amazingly well. I run them with Stans sealant and rim tape and Fillmore (expensive) valves. I can't say enough good things about that wheel set up. It's just kept going with zero flats. The sealant was so old I could hear dried up balls of it rolling around inside the tires. The only reason I'm swapping to new tires now is because my back wheel needed to be trued up and I was almost through the wear bars on the rear. I'm not sure how long they would last if I rode them until they left me stranded somewhere. The GP 5000 TT TR pictured above is supposed to roll a little easier than the S TR at expense of a little durability. We will see.

All that to say, if you decide to ditch the Gatorskins for another Connie tire, I think you could get very good longevity and a MUCH faster bike for the work your putting in.
