It’s a fear reaction. Lashing out isn’t ok, but it’s a behavior that I recognize in myself that I am working hard to correct.
I understand this. However, in the fifteen plus years we've been together, I can count the number of times she has admittred to being wrong on two hands. I can can the number of times she has apologized on one.
It's a reaction alright. And we all have them. Mine tends to be "I'm sorry. My fault." And the combination of one person always being willing to apologize and the other completely unwilling, makes for a one sided relationship. Basically it's bullying. And her chest grows bigger with each battle won. Had I known then what I know now, I would have pushed back in the beginning. But I just wanted peace, so for fifteen years I have taken the blame and let her bully me.
In this case, she blamed me because I went out and closed the gate to the front pasture last night. IN her mind, I must have not put the little clip (which has failed multiple times already) on the gate.
The real reason is that a while back I had put a rubber strap on the gate so that even if they opened the latch, they couldn't push through it. Someone (not going to place blame here but it wasn't me), decided that was overkill and removed it. So, as the horses have done multiple times, they simply shoved the gate open and the latch spun on the axis and the gate opened.
Now, I could sit here and say that, rightly so. But I won't. Because:
A: She will never accept this and it will and already did turn into a huge fight.
B: I don't even give a shit anymore.
