Sipping coffee, pondering how much it's gonna cost to replace the shut off valve to my toilet since I discovered it no longer shuts off this morning. On the upside I got the actual toilet bowl flapper cleared so it seals and isn't just running, but I'm pretty sure having a functional shut off valve is important. I'd do it myself but given it requires water shut off to the whole building and the risk of liability if I screw up and flood things, I'm probably better of paying a pro.

Since when does a toilet not have a shut off valve?

We had the same problem a while back; frozen shutoff valve where we could not turn off the water flow to the toilet and replace the fill valve.

Wasn't that much money but I paid to have it done.

oh have fun and I hope the pain is low and the pleasure is high.
Sounds like my trip to the gym today. :laughing

Are we talking about just getting out or getting a new tool?

Good to know, I feel like SF dollars will be higher. Valve turns and slows water flow but doesn't shut it off, I'm assuming whatever material is used to seal the flow has gone bad. If I pay for a replacement I may as for a ball valve instead.

I'm surprised. Doesn't a flat/ apartment has a separate shutoff(might be outside ) ? Must be an old build. ... ;)

A birdie told me, I think, European flats often do have a per flat separate shutoff.

Heck I'm sure I can find you a San Francisco flat building that has a per condo shutoff on each pipe ..if renovated post 2010 let's say.

(Yeah I've replaced two of those. One I'm doing the don't touch don't wanna know policy)

Also: pedal nerd time is nigh. Now to go to a bike shop and borrow their pump.

Both! I picked it up a few weeks ago thanks to the immense generosity of @ThumperX

Got it running (still not sure why it wouldn't crank), cleaned up, replaced broken indicators and taillight, battery, and chain, replaced some missing hardware. I did a little shakedown ride yesterday and it felt pretty good! Only thing I noticed right away is that the right fork leg looks like it's seeping where the caliper bracket is threaded into the fork tube. Someone had smeared some gray RTV on the seam, so I'll be investigating that next.

and Taurus' love the comfort of home imo.
Taurus here.. and a +1.
Love the comfort of home...... and the excitement of riding twisty roads make home even sweeter. Comfort level appreciation level raises significantly.

Sure have been missing that.

That clicks a memory tag. G is one of the bestest around these parts :love

Sounds like a bit more work, but a lot of smiles ahead. Super cool! :ride

It is a great looking bike.

What would you compare it to in terms of other motos you have ridden?

She is! I'm looking forward to a lot of miles on this bike

I haven't ridden a lot of different bikes but it definitely reminds of my old SV650, which I loved. It's like a more refined version of that, if a bit heavier. And the sound is great!
