Exciting times in the Koi pond.
I hate physical therapy. Not the doing of it; the whole profession.
On one occasion, a long time ago, I used PT for post-op knee rehab. Went fine, seemed productive. On every other occasion over the past 20 years, it has been either ineffective (used as a gate before providers would move forward with other treatments) or outright harmful, making an existing condition worse.
Fast forward to today. A few weeks ago, I made an appointment for post-op PT. Sounded good; they take my insurance, etc. Today I got an email to fill out an "intake form" for tomorrow's appointment. At the end of 9 pages is a membership contract. A what?
Turns out, they bill insurance and also charge for a concierge membership. I called to see if they can just provide the post-op PT. Nope, membership required. Cancelled the appointment.
I've forwarded the referral to my normal provider, who will take a few days to deal with it. In the meantime, I can easily do everything that's on the menu on my own and am motivated enough to do it. If they never get around to making an appointment, everything will be OK anyway.
