I was wondering if you made it off that mountain. Best guess is that all sensors are wet and there’s a bulb out.

Pic of our little briefest spot.

Currently fixing shop electric and purging.

It's crazy that you got flooded. I think the flood view in Marin county was in the news the other day?

Dunno, but let's hope so.

Yeah, a little too much water might have come in .. especially for the abs sensor.

But also a wrench 🔧 sign at the transmission came on while driving. And that transmission got "serviced" recently, maybe related?

Also the CEL, the engine actually feels in limp mode. The CEL was not there during the whole drive off the mountain...

Dang, that's a lot of post snow issues. Water shouldn't impact a sensor unless there's a short I'd think. My golf saw many many many snowy / icy days in Colorado and never had any sensor issues. I did have an issue with the glow plugs, but that was because the harness had cracked and when it would get wet it'd throw a fault. Similarly I had my old Jetta VR6 act crazy on me on a wet drive home once and it turned out that the ignition coil casing had cracked and was shorting out when water go in there which would make the car run on just a few cylinders. Very exciting, but luckily an easy fix.

well one of the three issues is specifically about the ABS sensor located in the wheel itself near the caliper. It is from you in fact in this thread ... when that happened 1 year ago, you said "chains can affect wheel speeed sensors" ... and guess what last year both failed, one replaced by a proffesional, and then the other one did, i replaced myself (luckily I have a code reader, right)

the internet says "the abs speed sensor / or its hole can get dirty, etc" , jfyifwiw these wheels are huge 19", and wide, so there's a lot of cylindrical volume in there to whirlwind like hell :) shit can get in :laughing :cry ... that's my guess now anyway.

transmission and/or engine are separate. again from this thread you said "Water can actually get in the engine bay" ... and I Still have to find out what's the issue - but it's a long story how these may have gotten affected - shall we all go nerd-out sometime soon ... FML though this trip had two OTHER issues etc

Ah yeah, nerding sounds good, but also the only way I know of chains impacting sensors is by impacting / damaging them if clearances aren't good. I recall you confirmed that wasn't the iissue last time.

Why is everything so damn salty?!?

:x

I'm getting TPMS module failure
ECM failure or no communication
01314 - Engine control module (ECM) Please read DTC

01325 - Tire Pressure Monitoring Control Module No signal/communication

^^^ not quite sure I can find/unbolt / dielectric grease them modules...

plus additional MAF and/or Turbo things... so the car is actually limping now :( (n) TBH its good we made it home.
