Yeah our front deck is having some issues too. I kind of like it. Between the boards that move when you walk on them and warping, I don't even have to drink to feel drunk.

The back deck (patio?) needs attention. Have to place flower pots in certain spots so no one walks there.

I had a deck built when I bought the house. Then I had a structure built onto it to provide some cover from the vicious sun rays.

Trex is the gold standard for decks to me. It can be a bit hotter than wood but it will not degrade. Wood for support and trex for the decking material.
