Just saying …..
California’s own energy data makes the irony pretty clear: even after all the solar and wind growth, about one‑third of California’s electricity still comes from natural‑gas‑fired power plants. So when the state bans new natural‑gas water heaters and tells everyone to “go electric,” a big chunk of that electricity is still produced by the very fuel they’re trying to eliminate. It’s a classic California move — shifting the combustion from your garage to a power plant down the road and calling it progress.

Nothing beats watching a line of Teslas at Harris Ranch proudly “saving the planet” while a diesel generator behind the fence is doing the actual work. It’s like a magic trick: now you see the eco‑virtue, now you don’t. Meanwhile, the riders who get 50 mpg on a bike are the ones getting lectured by people whose cars are secretly running on tractor juice.

Geez…..🤪

So, half of this rant is bunk ,because the elimination of gas appliances is apparently to reduce bad gases inside one’s home , not to mention some deaths due to carbon monoxide.

So which state is doing it better?

As for Harris Ranch and teslas that’s the private work of one Enron-type shifty person.

AbsolutE

I've done several over the years, for my parents and other family members. I actually did the last one here at my house before this one, 28ish years ago.
At this point, I'd rather spend the money than the time. But for $3600, I'll bust out the tools.
I'm definitely cheaper than I am lazy. :laughing
I can jive with that.

I'm a bit younger than you but even things easier like certain car or bike repairs, sometimes I'd rather just pay someone to do what I've done many times before. I just don't want to be bothered, as much as I love turning wrenches on anything.

But yes, sometimes it's a decision of "where are my tools?" and get in there.

My 'favorite' is friends from college that want me to help them with car repairs. Like, serious projects, not just an oil change or an alternator or whatever. I helped a friend of mine once change the turbos on his Nissan 300ZX in college, they went bad again years later and he asked me to help him again. I told him no. You're a dentist pulling down 6 figures. I can recommend you someone who will do it for a fair price but I ain't doing that shit again.

P.S. Whoever designed the engine bay of the 300ZX twin turbo can rot in hell.

Sounds amazing a solar Tesla charger hidden on an olive ranch off 101.
Cool.
Where’s this Utopia at?

If we’re talking about gas hot water heaters, let’s be real they’ve been around for generations.
People aren’t dropping dead from them left and right.
Proper installation and ventilation have kept families safe for decades, including mine.
So trying to derail the conversation with carbon monoxide fear‑mongering doesn’t change the point….

Geez 🤪

You’re describing a solar‑powered Tesla charger on an olive ranch like it’s paradise.
Great where is it?
What’s the name of this Utopia?

Since nobody drops dead from smoking cigarettes they should allow teachers to smoke in class.

No teachers should not smoke in class….Simple

Why am I picturing Joanne Rivers??

I think she might be packing too.
I think my kids would behave.

So you're aware:
"...CARB’s 2026 plan set the 2030 target for zero-emission appliance sales. It’s the backbone of the state’s strategy to cut greenhouse gas emissions and improve indoor air quality. The plan covers space heaters, water heaters and dryers..."

He's not derailing anything he's bringing factual information to the discussion.

This.. doesn’t exactly prove, that there aren’t any dangers.

People aren’t dropping dead from them left and right.
oh yes they are. There’s literally a case every now and then of “a couple sleeping in the room next to the water heater” and they don’t wake up because of carbon monoxide poisoning

Very sad actually…a case every a year or so, covered in the news.

Look it’s okay if you haven’t heard of it and are being ignorant of this, just now you should know! :D

What’s the name of this Utopia?

Did you just post the same thing twice ? :laughing

BTW, In my case, an electric range would totally be better. (Well except when PGE doesn’t provide electricity for 28 hrs)

So, just got off the phone with my niece and nephew and their mother. I've said that I want to be more present in their lives and holding myself back from it because of the fractured relationship with my brother but that is not their fault or fair to them. Call this step 1.

They enjoyed talking with uncle Joe. I still cannot believe my niece is in 7th grade. I fucking loved that my niece plays the flute and my nephew is super interested in getting into karate. I was laughing too hard... ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME. I WAS A BARD NERD AND KARATE/MARTIAL ARTS were/are my bread and butter. If either of them get interested in cars or/and motorcycles,

As the lyrics go

"Don't ask my neighbors
Don't ask the friends I hang around (never ask my friends I hang around) (uh, uh)
Don't be afraid to come to me (come to me)"

I also wanted to catch up with her and how she's been because she is my friend and she is family. I didn't want to pry too much into relationship stuff but what I know is she's dated a couple girls since she cut ties with my brother. In a joking manner, my brother was so bad, he turned her off from dudes completely. :laughing (Yes, I know that's not how sexuality works).
