Hey Everyone,
Time for me to replace my Chain/Sprockets on the FZ. Last time I went with an EK Chain (Have ran this brand for over a decade) and would run Sunstar steel sprockets because I remember reading they are an OEM manufacturer and made in Japan (bonus for me).

Welllllllllll:

With that being said, I always run Steel front/rear sprockets OEM configuration 525 pitch. What's the next recommended brand? JT? Are there any Japanese made sprockets still being made these days?

I've been running superlite steel sprockets on the hyper and while I replace them when I do the chain like a good boy, I usually can't see any visual wear particularly on the rear even at 16,000 plus miles.

I went from OEM steel to aluminum with a Vortex rear last year. I went +2 on the tooth count to provide more zip off the line.

I used JT steel sprockets on my SV650 and they lasted as long as the D.I.D X-ring chains I used which was good enough for me. Company is based in London, but their factory may be in Thailand. They've been around since mid-1980s. Photo from 2020 replacing my JTF520-15 after 4 yrs, ~15k miles:

JT is Thai, there may be local distributors in UK, USA but it's all Thailand.

I've run their JTF 1591-16RB (front)
and JTR 1876-43 (rear) sprockets
on my old FZ-07. They work.

Their chains are inferior—I would stick with DID chains. This is my picture of JT's chain failing after only 400 miles on a brand new chain (KTM 690 SMC).

Ya'll are providing me with some solid choices THANK YOU. I was looking at my previous orders and looks like my front sprocket is a steel JT front sprocket so I must only run sunstar rear sprockets.

Update:

Looks like I found the last Sunstar Steel Sprocket in existence on eBay :laughing

Went with a JT rubber cushioned front sprocket as well.

$65 shipped for both on Ebay not bad!

All of my street bikes get steel rear sprockets (aluminum for trackbikes). I've had good success with Superlite.
