Ride notes - weekend mountain ride

Many windscreens cause buffeting around the helmet and upper torso, making them more uncomfortable than not having a screen. Unfortunately, trial and error seem to be the only way to tell if you will like a particular fairing. I find a small headlight fairing that ends at about the bend in the mirror stalks to be the best compromise between wind protection and turbulence. Good luck and best wishes on your new found hobby!

i ride a lot of forest roads up here and i am often close to the embankment and it has saved my butt more than once. i agree with and double like your post.
Anyone who has spent any amount of time on goat roads has likely developed the same system.

To quote Lou MC "there is a drill..."

OP... good summary.
As for a windscreen you may find that even a short screen will help by pushing the air away and off your chest. Also, depending on your riding position
the screen will direct air flow over your helmet reducing buffeting. Bobl provided good info!

An additional note: As you ride more you will be out at night. Try this - when you're at home sit on your bike, close your eyes and practice finding / locating all the switches and controls on the left and right side of the handlebars. That way when riding during the day or night you don't have to take your eyes off the road to find the switches, you'll automatically know where they are - "muscle memory".

Enjoy your ride. Shiny side up, sticky side down!
