Sans helmet because they just make me too hot

I’d guess that the vast majority of two wheel riders in the world do not wear any kind of protection.
 
I'm more interested in the final drive on that thing.
What's in that white cover?
 
Only two, maybe three times in my life have I ever ridden without a helmet. Once or twice in the Greek islands. And once very early in my motorcycling career.
 
Why a full chain cove?

Wife was riding a go-kart as a kid. No chain guard at all. Chain broke, a link penetrated the wood back of seat, punctured lung. Link is still in her, too close to heart to remove they said. Shows up on scans. Hasn't moved during resonance imaging.

Oh, and no oil on your boots, pants and all else. And it looks purdy, too.
 
I feel odd not wearing a helmet on a bicycle now.

Back in the day there weren't any bicycle helmets to buy of course.

This! How is that nice guy in his white shirt and tie going to get with that attractive woman if she won't ride on his bike because she'll get oil on her pants?

He's not, is the quick answer. So he gets a bike with a full chain cover and...

You must be nearly as old as I am. When I first started riding, all we had were those padded racing “helmets”. Then, in about 1977, Bell came out with the first cycling helmet.

Not just for cleanliness or safety or for the convenience of passengers, back when I was a kid, the crust was just beginning to cool, and no one had invented o-ring chains, some of the best ISDT bikes in the world ran fully enclosed chains in a gear oil bath as shown with the pictured MZ. IIRC, the Bultaco Matador and Ossa Pioneer were similarly equipped (Gwynne's partner would know), and so was the Honda I learned to ride on. When fully enclosed the chain would last longer and require less frequent adjustments.

I imagine the trails had no stutter bump or ruts when the crust was beginning to cool. (y)

Just like o-ring chains, long travel suspension wasn't a thing.
