So Who Rode in Today?

:laughing:rofl

I don't enjoy commuting in the rain. Cold is fine, but rain sucks. That said, I LOVE fun rides in the rain. The roads are empty, tires don't get worn out, and I can have a bit of fun spinning it up here and there. Anyone who hasn't tried riding the twisties in the rain should really give it a shot. It will help you become a smoother, more controlled rider. Every input is amplified. Braking, weight shifts, acceleration, etc. all have to be silky smooth. Rain riding also serves to remind me how mediocre I am as a rider :laughing

exactly!

Have to wear a coat and tie so showing up after a 50 mile commute dripping all over the carpet is a pita.

otoh...........it's just water; some ppl actually drink the stuff.

Okay so i didn't get to ride in the pouring rain as some people told me it did. However i did ride in a light drizzle for 20mins in the Frogg Toggs and i made it home cold but dry. Im on the tall side and the jacket feels a bit short stopped mid stomach but i just pulled the pants up to my nipples and i was okay....

Rode in today. This was the first true test of the new season since I didn't ride in Monday and yesterday was basically dry.

Rained the whole way down to San Jose, abt a 46 minute ride for me. There was some accumulation on the road but not too bad. Everything worked perfectly. No leaks, no wet crotch, no wet feet or hands. Very cool! Here's what did the job:

- 'Stich Transit Suit
- A-Stars Gran Torino Boots
- Racer Dynamic II Gloves
- Scorpion EXO-1000 Helmet

Needless to say I am completely sold on Gore-Tex. It eez the Sheet! :teeth

Rode up from Pleasanton, where it was drizzling today.

As the first time riding in it, the verdict is: I hate it. It's wet, it's cold, I can't see, I can't brake right and people in cars are even stupider.

It sounds like you could benefit from some rain/dirt practice. Braking is the same, but has to be done smoothly. Trail braking isn't a great idea, but if you are upright, it should be pretty easy to stop much more quickly than most cars. Just don't squeeze too hard until you have sufficient weight on the front. :dunno

Wet weather riders check in...

I took off around 7:15 from the North Bay in heavy downpour... 30 miles of 1st/2nd gear lane-splitting and the rain never let up. Barely made it to Oakland in time for 9am meeting. Got passed early on by a very skilled or very crazy dual-sport rider.

My rain pants leak.

I didn't hit heavy rain until around Palo Alto but only for about 10 miles.

My pants only got a little bit wet because I took out the overpants' waterproof liner (normally my windshield would have prevented any wetness, but I guess it way too heavy and too long). Since my gears are still wet, I'll have to work from home today.

Supermoto in the rain = teh awesome! I rolled out of bed actually looking forward to my commute this morning. :teeth

Sumos are a blast in the rain, but getting wet during a commute is :thumbdown

Still waaay better then me. :laughing

Roads were wet today, nice reminder that I became complacent on smoothness. :(

I pulled into the moto parking spot at work, looked at the cruiser (a C50) parked next to me, and marveled at how that bike, with all the shiny chrome, looked so clean after the wet ride. I was thinking, did the rider actually wipe the bike down after getting to work in the morning? Then I looked at its huge front/rear fenders and go, “oh.” :thumbup

looks like rain in the evening (40% percip chance msn, 30% percip chance weather.com)....ride safe...urgh...shoot...i guess it's a good that i lubed the chain and both front and rear wheel bearings last night....but, will have to do it again tonight...urgh...

It was pouring sheets of rain earlier. Now it looks like the sun is coming out.

I think the weather is crazy. :x

rode yesterday, rode today, gonna ride tomorrow.

same as last year.

I think there is a good chance I'll get a little bit wet riding home later this afternoon. If I don't get wet at least twice a year I figure I'm not trying hard enough. But I could still get lucky and manage to stay dry.

I'll likely drive the car tomorrow, though.
