So Who Rode in Today?

Friday was insane riding in SF for sure. Had a car spin out in nearly in front of me and standing water in some places was like riding through a river. I also found out that my Klim Marrakesh pants are not waterproof.

Okay, first rain of the season. So who rode in today? I had to be in the office otherwise would have tried to avoid it. Heavy rain coming over 17 with a lot of standing water. Multiple times oncoming traffic sent a plumes of water up and over the median. Thankfully, traffic overall was light as I think those that could chose to work from home.

I didn't check the weather this morning and had no choice but to ride home wearing a garbage bag. Quite soaked to say the least. Perhaps an Aerostitch suit is in my future.

When there's real rain, I'll wear rain gear with my Roadcrafter. Usually rain pants under. Sometimes a rain jacket over*. An R3 should be totally waterproof, but being unlined, I don't expect it to hold up to a daily commute.

*That should all be past tense, as I rarely commute now, and don't do it on rain days anymore.

Wet weather riders check in...

I took off around 7:15 from the North Bay in heavy downpour... 30 miles of 1st/2nd gear lane-splitting and the rain never let up. Barely made it to Oakland in time for 9am meeting. Got passed early on by a very skilled or very crazy dual-sport rider.

My rain pants leak.

Well ...if I weren't retired for 10 years...I would have been plowing through the precip.
I commuted on 2 wheels for most of my working life, even when I was in the 4 wheel business and had a nice demo to drive.

There were also a few years when I just didn't really want a car. Hard-headed? Yep.

i rode in today...:later

My gear is no longer waterproof (I've tried multiple reproofs with no success) so any rain I just drive these days.

Saw two accidents from Turlock to Modesto.

When i lived in Vallejo and worked in San Rafael I commuted every day on a moto, rain or shine....because Hwy 37.
Now I work from home much of the time, but when I do go in, it's less than 10 minutes from me. It literally takes me longer to pull the bike out and get my gear on than it does to just drive to work.
Good problem to have.

When I lived in Healdsburg and worked in Santa Rosa I commuted moto every day, rain or shine...because 2 lanes 101 south.
Now I have a 10 mile commute I can blast in 15 minutes via three freeways, or the back way surface streets at 25 minutes. Bummed I missed the rain this week and the chance to try out the stich pants I bought from a barfer. Best way to clean your ride. Come to think of it I have no water proof boots.

I rode in today and was reminded that wind plus tar snakes equals fun in my lane 🤪

I rode yesterday, between sprinkles. The ground was wet and I was afraid to lean too far. I had to carry too much into work today.

I'm spoiled by my four day work week.
I might bring my coffee out to the garage, sit on it and make vroom-vroom noises.

I rode today.
Aerostitch'd into the office a little bit damp.
I love my Aerostich. There was enough rain coming down that traffic was going below the limit but I arrived dry. Also love my heated grips and seat :laughing
