Looking to pick up an sm again to hit the kart track. Is there a cc limit in place?

What do you all recommend for a motard that will see kart track use but also backroads. Needs to be plated. Did the wr250x thing years ago but this time around I would like more power. All my research keeps bringing me back to a drz. Is there anything higher performance with decent reliability /maintenance. Doesn't have to be drz level reliability as I enjoy working on bikes. But I don't have much experience with KTM or husky hence the reason for asking.

Based on your description I would definitely consider a KTM 500, but you’ll need to uncork it (or buy a used one)

Or maybe even a 350 for that matter, given kart track intentions.

I’ve had a WR250 and rode it all over, plus Sonoma. Had a DRZ400SM as well. Currently have a 350 XC

If I were you I would try to find a way to do some back to back comparisons.

I know someone looking to sell a ktm 450SMR.
Fooking sweeeet ride.
lmk if you're interested.

Would I be able to track a husky 510 or is that past the cc limit of the track?

That would be fine...I'm not aware of a cc limit anyway. It's just too much work riding a bigger bike on the kart track...so most people don't do it.

I saw a DR650 on the track one time. It looked kinda outta place but it was there. I think generally something up to 400 or 450 is the biggest I will see.

I've seen a 690SMC out there, i think that's the biggest bike I've seen there. it was a bit piggish in the corners but pulled on everyone in the straight lol.

When I was there in June for a Moto practice day, there was a 600cc sport bike on track.

Plenty of 450s and 500/501s out there.

Can you get a track day there w/o buying the annual pass? I can't find much info about the use of the kart track for motos.

Any helpful links?
