The Essential Trials Stickie

Well, not much action in the BARF trials thread; but plenty going on outside in the real world.

I managed to ride in 7 of the 10 Sacto PITS events last year and finished 2nd in the Clubman A championship. Got beat by a guy in his mid-70s. He's been riding trials since 1977, so has a few more hours of practice under his belt than me. Also got 3rd overall in the Saturday Family Trial Modern Bike 0 class. Didn't see elemental out at any of the events this year. I plan to hit as many events again this year as I can riding the Clubman class again. Hoping to hone my skills a little sharper and move up to the Advanced class next year.

We also rode a few non-PITS events this year. The British American Cup in Valley Springs, Ca in February (pic below), the Schaad Ranch trial in Wilseyville, Ca in October, and the Kern River Classic in Lake Isabella, Ca just recently in December.

I also rode in all 4 rounds of the Western Region National Championship (Kingman, Az & Donner, Ca) and finished 5th overall in the Sr (40+) Clubman class. The Clubman line sections weren't much more difficult than a Club trial, but the national level competition was pretty stiff. It was fun to see the Pros up close doing things on a motorcycle that shouldn't be possible.

This year the West region rounds are in Anza, Ca and Muenster, Tx. I might travel down to SoCal for the California round, but almost certainly wont go to Texas.

Ok, good catching up, probably won't see you guys out there in 2025.

There will also be a round of the FIM Trial GP World Championship in the USA this year. July 11-13 in Exeter, Rhode Island. Not so convenient for us in the West.

But I heard a rumor that there are plans for another World Championship at Donner in the next few years, so that's cool.

Rebekah and I are back this week from travelling to Rhode Island to watch the World round. Sacramento PITS members had a great showing out there, with about 25 of us making the trek.

I thought watching our top American pros ride their lines at the Nationals was cool, but watching the top TrialGP pros is a whole other ballgame. Watching in person really reinforced that everything they do looks smaller/easier on video. Watching in person is absolutely unreal.

We stood right here at Section 9, Race 1, Day 1, and watched every pro come through and attempt this obstacle. They all failed. Toni Bou is the only person in the world who can ride up this.

Thank you for keeping this thread alive :thumbup
I will never forget being awe struck by a very young Cody Webb at Donner almost 20 years ago. A very old sport turning out the best of the best.

Good time to head to Truckee and watch if spectators are invited.

From the random motorcycle posts thread. More applicable here now that this popped up! :thumbup

Lets include some moss on the nearly vertical rocks face for fun.
