Well my Experia ended up only being down for a few weeks. I thought it was going to be a lot longer so I got a gas bike to get around on. I always liked and wanted a Speed Triple... and now I have one. My apologies for the shameless self promotional video but it's the only "before" images I really have. I describe the bike as being #YOLO Swagtastic with all the bling.

I thought it might be fun to chronicle turning it into a mostly stock bike that's a bit more my particular style. Understated, practical, and capable is what I'm shooting for.

As much as I like to clown on the previous owner (someone from Oakland, so maybe someone here knows him).....
The mods that were done weren't terrible. Some of the wiring is a little hacked, but theres a power commander so the exhaust isn't super pop crackly. The anodized engine bolts weren't over torqued so none of the heads snapped off when I put the stock stainless back on.

The suspension was pretty unbalanced, but Chris, formerly of Superplush, got the boingers and clickers in the right spot so I no longer pee a little when I hit bumps. It was...ah...pretty taut before.

The first thing I did was scour the dark corners of eBay for a blanking plug so I could excorcise the Devils Wake Up Call that was the factory alarm. Holy shit I have an unreasonable hatred for that thing.

Any way, stay tuned.

Oh yeah, like and subscribe...lol.

You’re funny. My bike is set up like how your previous owner did yours. In my case it’s been a journey of scouring the internet for matching blue bling but it’s given me something satisfying and creative to do aside from work.

And I’m older than you so it’s not an age thing.

I think there’s a 16 year old boy in me that never grew up.

Same.
And that's right about when I began riding. I'm convinced they're connected.
You don't stop riding because you feel old. You feel old because you stop riding.
I'm proud to say that part of me will never mature.

As I often say, I’m only adult shaped.

As a 55-year-old man with a wife and a mortgage, I loves me some anodized bits and pieces... This was my Ducati ST4S - look, a carbon fiber hugger! A carbon fiber exhaust! Anodized bolts! Anodized shift AND brake levers!

Ladies, I DARE you to date me. Or at least express an intention to do so, so I can have all the satisfaction without the hassle of a divorce.

(to be clear, the bike was like this when I bought it, and I didn't have it long enough to change anything. I really liked the Dzus fasteners on the fairings though)

I greatly dislike bits and pieces that are officially the same color but they're not really the same color at all. Like three different manufacturers will make blue farkles but they're all different shades of blue and my brain DOES NOT LIKE.

Every rally announcement tugs at me. It truly is on my bucket list.
My barrier is my better half's CHF. Being too far away from her fosters anxiety.
If only they made a two-seater motorcycle.

:twofinger :laughing

I kid, I kid. I'm sure if you could you would.

i once decided that my bike, a buell, would look much better in rattle can flat black. i was completely correct
anyway, i didn't want to ruin the original, perfectly loudly red, bodywork so i got used replacements off of various places. turns out that carbon fiber panels take flat black primer REALLY REALLY well.

don't forget how it all fades differently in the UV world we live in

I love this so far.

You guys are anomalous, being old with your blinged out Yolo Swagtastic bikes.

I've never been into flashy and color matched. I love bone stock. Stamped sheet metal parts speak to me with motor vehicles.

Have you ever seen that t-shirt with the rainbow that's in shades of grey and it says "Straight" in block letters across the front? I am what it looks like when that shirt wishes to be a real boy.

I'm a drab peahen in the back of the pack of Peacocks.

I’ve found this to be very true.
For this reason I’ve tried to stay with Puig add-on’s. But they don’t make everything I want.

As long as the two pieces don’t butt up against each other the shade differences are not that apparent.

I was particularly fond of the matrix of washers JB Welded to the tank cover on that bike to provide purchase for the magnetic tank bag. You are my spirit animal.
