My first car as a 16 year old idiot was a 1969 Mach 1 Mustang. 351 Windsor (budget), c4 trans. Thank you uncle Frank and Lavosia Hodges (the seller), both of whom were Ford Aerospace employees.
I was a cook at William Flagg's on Homestead and Lawrence in Santa Clara. I lusted after a workmate's 1967 GTO. I believe I have rather clearly stated that I was an idiot. I beat the shit out of that poor car for 3 months and had to sell it as I lost my job, and mum, the cosigner, couldn't afford the payments. It sold for what I Wass committed to pay for it. Who remembers the illicit drags in Sunnyvale at Caribbean and Mathilda or thereabouts before it was developed?
Next up was my 1976 KZ60, also in a beautiful green. A silver lining if ever there was one. Dad, I haven't thanked you for much in our severely fractured relationship, but thank you for co-signing for the KZ. I still don't know why you trusted me. RIP.
Strangely, in Switzerland in 2018, while on a business trip (yeah, right) lunch stop, a Mach 1 was rolled out of a workshop. It was a '69 with a Cobra Jet (severe lust), but it was the same color as mine. I have a couple of videos if anyone is interested.
