100% agree with you. But, I will still watch the games as I am a fan of both the Raiders and the A's but both owners have really screwed over the city of Oakland in their own ways. Of course, in the case of the Raiders, Oakland and the Coliseum were more than happy to bend over for Davis. LOL

To be abundantly clear, the City of Oakland screwed the City of Oakland.

Both Teams made offers to the City. The Raiders only had one one request, let me also build a really expensive Apartment building on the Land where I will build the stadium, so I can make enough money from top flight rents to have this deal work for me.

Oakland said FU, make it affordable housing rent restricted or GTFO.

So of course the Raiders GTFO and the Tech bros just came in and bought up all the existing affordable housing stock so no one can afford it in da Town anyway. People usually get exactly the City they elected.

Funny... some sports I do have a hard time watching. Most I can appreciate the athleticism and watch for a bit.

Golf is the one that I can watch for a bit because I continually think what it would be like to rip that course up on a dirt bike :laughing

I have to admit that I did not know that. I was more referring to the "Mount Davis" bleachers that really ruined it for baseball. Those bench bleachers were so nice and cheap to go and sit and watch a game in the sun when it is nice out there.

Yeah, the fact that it boiled down to housing was ridiculous.

You know the A's will sell as soon as they land in Vegas.

I'm amazed the raiders haven't already.

I stopped watching MotoGP when 46 retired.

I started watching when 46 was in his second year with Yamaha. This was thanks to someone on BARF posting whole races. I watched them all and immediately became a fan of the sport and Mr. Rossi especially. I loved him battling against MM. But I did not stop watching when 46 retired. I had to find races on teh webs and would wake up in the middle of the night to watch live. Now I hate watch MM (It's just sports, don't think I'm evil!!).

Edit: I wonder if others bailed because Vale retired. The racing is just as good as when 46 was in the game. I am looking forward to less "tech" next year.

The racing IS still great. My biggest gripe these days is they don't show moto2 and moto3. A couple years ago HBO showed every single race and I enjoyed watching the youngsters. How is our American Joe Roberts doing?

As for all of the other sports, I watch a lot of them. I can watch just about any NFL game. I will watch most baseball games, some get boring for me if they are not good teams. Love the NBA, huge Warriors fan (Need to check in on the Dubs thread if it still exists.). UFC is fun to watch. Sports help take my mind off of the daily bad news that keeps coming in constantly. Mrs. Bubba watches too much political TV so I escape from that and watch sports.

I have the MotoGP subscription so I get Moto2 and Moto3.
3 is a hoot!!! 2 is OK but with Joe Roberts not doing well it is not entertaining as it once was with the 2 smokes.

Since I watch some Red Bull Rookies Cup following those lads forward makes it interesting as well.

I am a bit surprised at the lack of MX / SX fans.

I used to watch the MX stuff whenever I could as a kid. Not sure why but it's not my cup of tea any more. I think I'll give it another chance.

Yeah, the only one i am aware of who didn't really make any effort to stay in Oakland was the Warriors. They just wanted to go back home to SF where there was more money and less Oaklamd.

Being the only Norcal NBA Team made it an easy business decision.

For the two Vegas Teams, competing against the Giants and Niners for a fanbase meant the regional loyalty had more business value and it was worth making a solid effort to stay. It seemed like The Raiders tried hardest, but once da Town screwed them out of any chance of a deal, it sort of paved the way for the A's to make only a legitimate, but more token effort.

I would agree that both teams had to deal with the cross town rivals. The Raiders always had a solid and loyal fan base in Oakland and I would have put them up against the Whiner fan base any time as to who was more loyal. Remember Candlestick park, the John Brodie and Steve Spurrier years? Most Whiner fans don't because they were Steeler fans then. LOL.

I jest on that part. But, if I remember correctly, the Raider brand and logo is still amongst the highest selling logo in the NFL, but don't quote me on it.

The Coliseum was willing to give Oakland carte blance to redo and renovate the facility, and in my opinion they ruined it for the A's. What was once a fun ballpark to spend a day watching baseball became a horrible place to watch a game.

Now, with that said, the Giants have put together a fantastic "experience" and took an area that was all boarded up warehouses and made it a place for all to go, enjoy a drink or a meal before the game and then after go and have another drink or two, if you can afford it. LOL. They made it close to the train so those who did not want to pay huge parking fees could hop the train and not worry about it. The A's thought they could get a setup like that at Howard Terminal but they wanted the city to pay for it. Oakland has many problems to deal with and shelling out huge money for a pro team that is unwilling to event try and field a competitive team is very low on the list. So I completely understand why Oakland let the A's go. Fischer is an idiot and has ruined what was once a good team and a good organization. Anyway, I apologize for the rant and taking over the thread. I will leave it all at that. Rock On!!!!

Since you are not a basketball fan I will help you out here. While it's likely true the teams owner wanted to move to the money of SF, the heart and soul of the "splash bro" and "we believe" era Warriors is in Oakland. Roaracle arena and the fans who routinely went bonkers there were instrumental in the rise of the Warriors franchise.

Chase center energy is a pale shadow of the juice the Oakland fans brought night after night when NO ONE believed in the team. Roaracle was THE home court advantage to have in the early days of the dubbs dynasty and I will not be quite about how amazing Oakland fans were in making them what they are. I'm frequently frustrated at the lame ass energy that can be seen at Chase center. When the third quarter starts the lower level seats are empty. Tech bro's need $25 beers yo!! At the end of come back win the other night STEPH CURRY had to ask the fans to get loud. It's shameful.

If you want to say the suits moved the team, sure they have the power to do that. Fans and the players know, Oakland is the heart of basketball in the bay.

You must be very clear here, the only thing that matters in sports entertainment, is Money.

:dunno

There are more fans in the East Bay certainly, as the East Bay has the highest population density (dollars per sq mile * # of miles for a team) and as I stated, the Warriors have an advantage of being the only Team around the Bay. If there was an East Bay Team, it would be the Broke Ass Team of the 2, like the Raiders and A's were, and probably would be playing in Vegas by now with the rest of them. :dunno
