What is bullying? Are you a bully?

I don't see any sticks or stones.

If you don't like the show, change the channel.

Ever go to a motorcycle club meeting where many members are drunk and disorderly? It's funny to watch them bash on each other.

Words on a page hurt? Only if you're too weak to deal with some letters and punctuation marks arranged in a way that you may find unpleasantly provocative.

The harassment training stuff at work says it's not the intent, it's the perception. I dunno...

I work in the construction trades around a buncha plumbers, pipefitters and welders. I've been doing it for the better part of forty years. Nobody lasts long in this business if they're thin-skinned. Some folks are good at pushing buttons. When you leave, put things away, go home, chill out, sleep on it. You'll feel better in the morning. (especially when you're on vacation)

That's what I tell the kids at work anyway. (Some of them are nepo babies too - the worst offenders.)

Harmony is a good thing so don't fuck it up for everybody else.

The pen is mightier than the sword.

(Not to say that changing the channel isn’t sage adviser.)

You got a choice.
Don’t buy it.
Don’t read it.
and don’t say your opinion is right.
You ..

Oh man...I remember the time Dave (Pigpen) and RobertR1 fought at Lascalla in Walnut Creek over some internet shit. The real days of the internet!
The Pigpen vs. RobertR1 Lascalla Incident really deserves proper documentation.
For the sake of much‑needed humor around here, we’re going to need video.
New members are requesting it.
Whatever footage exists, please release it so the rest of us can finally witness the masterpiece.

It was wayyyyyy back around the turn of the millennium and fomented on Labusas.org from the Wild West days of moto forums. Back then, even Gopro's weren't around...yah, THAT old!

Lately it seems members are accused of bullying when disagreements become heated.
Is it bullying to correct someone when he/she has an opinion that when fact checked proves to be wrong?
Is it bullying when a member is corrected by multiple members for quoting absolute incorrect information? This applies to all content not political.
Is it bullying for members to be required to tolerate racist, homophobic, misogynistic, religious or any other rhetoric?
At what point do members throw up their hands and walk away?

This is serious not a bitchfest.
It would be good to finally get this clarified.

Fundamentally, bullying requires that a superior strength character by some measure to give undue punishment to a weaker one, less able to defend themselves.

This seems mostly unable to occur on an online message board, unless perhaps it is a case of Mod abuse, but the Panel vote nature of Mods on this board make even that nearly impossible.

Bullyish delves into the haunting reality of online bullying and stalking, capturing the experiences of a vulnerable 15-year-old navigating the treacherous waters of social media to a resilient 23-year-old woman who has learned to navigate the pitfalls of the digital world. This project sheds light on the harrowing effects of cyberbullying, showcasing how social platforms often turn a blind eye to the obvious crises unfolding on their platforms. It uncovers the dark underbelly of content farms that churn out sensational lies for profit, feeding into the toxic cycle of online harassment. Through the lens of two vastly different perspectives, Bullyish paints a poignant portrait of the lasting impacts that online harassment can have on individuals as they transition from adolescence to adulthood.

whatever the question on da BARF the answer is always the same in one form or another.

Odd to not consider difference people may have different opinions as to what bullying is and may react differently to situations than others would. It isn’t a math equation where the same input gives the same output every time.
Even individuals who are not bothered by comments at one point may react differently at another point if it’s combined with some other BS they may be dealing with at the time.

BS, bullying is more about intent than how the person on the receiving end reacts

Bullying is certainly not a case where more than one person has to tell another person they are just plain in the wrong in a case where the person refuses to listen.

When a person is presented with facts, yet continues to spew falsehoods, continues to attempt to dominate the narrative, then cry’s victim when repeatedly corrected- there’s your bully.
